    Mountain man

I was at the Ranch Hand Breakfast held on the King Ranch this weekend. I came across this man who was explaining the calvary's use of camels in Texas. C & C always.

I wonder how long it will be before his hat becomes as politically incorrect as Confederate flags on State capitols . .

I really like every aspect of this. I guess that some might think that the badge on the hat pulls a bit but to me it just completes the picture. Good image.

I like the way you did this one, Dean...if I can bother you to remove that white hair near his eyes as it bothers me, it will be nice...other than that, it is a perfect image to my eyes.

A very good B&W photo. Agreeing with Izzie, that hair should be gone.
    Cheers Ole

This is a very effective shot, Dean. I really like it and I like the way you use the hat and his beard to frame his face.

Two minor areas to think about (other than the stray hair that Izzie has already identified).

    1. The image is just a touch soft. A bit of sharpening would give this image even more presence. I tried it with Photoshop's Unsharp Mask with settings of Amount 100%, Radius 1.1 and Threshold 0 and it really takes the shot to the next level; and

    2. I don't love the lower let hand side of the image. The beard sort of blends in with the background a bit too much. I suspect trimming off about 10% of the image on the left hand side, so that the beard runs off the edge of the image might give you a slightly stronger composition.

Nice shot, Dean. It is not every man that can wear a chicken foot in his hat. This guy carries it off well.
