Woman in red (well a lot of red)

This is a quick grab shot taken at the Golden Temple, in Amritsar, India. As someone put it, this is the Sikh equivalent of the Vatican. I saw this woman wearing these brilliant colours standing in a covered passage near a door just looking out. She was in a shaded area, so a lot of dodging here to reduce the impact of her partially standing in the shade.

I'm sure others, like me, might see that pillar half in-half out of the image and think 'that shouldn't be there'. But, look at it in the Lighbox and drag the image across so that that pillar goes outside the visible area. The conclusion, or at least my conclusion, is that it needs to be there. It is a much stronger image with it in than with it out. Maybe that is because of the way the lady is looking. It provides and anchor point, a full stop.

And as for the lady, the light looks good. She looks to be a very beautiful lady, and those clothes are gorgeous.

Thanks Donald, you. You've gotten to know me well enough to figure out what and why I do things.

My first impulse was to crop the column in PP, but that left the woman looking out at the great unknown. So I tried something different and left the column in the image, but cut it down so it does not become a second major element that distracts, but rather than something that complements the subject.

Nicely captured and framed considering your options were limited.

Excellent shot, really love the colours, so vibrant. Also like the natural floral pattern in contrast to the strong geometric shapes on the floor.

Beautiful shot. I like the half column since it add depth to the shot.
