    Doorman with cellphone and cigarette

This was the result of a happy accident which I believe happened because I shot while walking, and was holding the camera at chest level so not to disturb the subject as I passed him.
Yes, it's not sharp, but there is something about the scene that I like.

Nikon 35 1.8 in Nikon S mount manual focus
Fuji chrome 100 ISO coloour slide

It's a technique that's used often in street photography and you run the risk of sometimes not getting what you want. Were you shooting in manual focus mode and had focus set for a certain distance? I've tried this method a few times and can rarely get the image I want so curious.

    John,
With the exception of a Nikon N-65 which is dedicated to an auto focus lens I very rarely use (Sigma 12~24 f4.5-5.6), none of my other cameras are auto focus.
When I am being stealthy about a particular shot and not actually looking through the viewfinder to compose, I almost always use hyperfocus to keep everything acceptably sharp.
In this case, my motion caused the blur during exposure: the camera was moving while the subject was not.

    Thanks for clarifying.
