    Golden Temple at night

This is a hand-held shot of Amritsar, India's Golden Temple at night. Our hotel was just a few minutes walk from the place, so we wandered back to see what the place looked after the sun went down. It was beautifully lit up.

What struck me was the humanity of the place, with little pockets of the faithful scattered around here and there.

This is an interesting and appealing images. I do have one suggestion. I'm not normally too eager to clone things out, but I would think about getting rid of the two wires on the left.

Dan - I had originally removed them and then put them back as a compositional element. They help break up the large mass of night sky in that part of the image.

I love the predominance of the white gold and green colours here

I like the brilliance of the scene and the relaxed mood of the worshipers, who seem in oblivion of the busy world outside ...do you really believe in the compositional significance of that wire there? I feel as uncomfortable as a thread hanging out from my shirt with that
    Regards

That is, indeed, the beauty of this image. You can feel the mood and the atmosphere and almost feel the waft of the warm evening air.

Okay - here is what it looks like with the wires cloned out.

Nice shot...learning about other cultures is interesting, especially when taken by CiC members and submitted here. I like both image, each has its own merits. Your reasoning about the wires intact is interesting to note too, while I find the edited one, too clean. I do not think that is the purpose of the shot but the choice of most viewers.

Another interesting shot, Manfred. One of those that requires some study. The flare on the right side is a bit distracting.
