Salzburg Curiosities.
Salzburg (in the other direction) and the Fortress Hohensalzburg.
Just two landscapes that I thought it worth sharing. The original old town sits on the banks of the river in what is really a river Gorge with the Castle on the high promontory to the NW (see Here). These were taken from the castle battlements on the far side from the old city. Two things I thought might be of interest. The first image is part of a seven exposure panorama. The mountain in the distance is the Watzmann Massif which sits on the border between Germany and Austria and is where Hitler's retreat of Berchtesgaden is located. Nearer to you can see a house which curiously, is all by itself in a field (second image). When it was built, the surrounding area, now part of greater Saltzburg, would have been nothing but fields. This is the Hangman's house and although he clearly provided a service to the town, the burghers of Saltzburg decided that hanging out with the hangman was tempting fate and consigned him to the fields on the other side of the hill. The house is still occupied today.
Both Fuji XT-1 +18-55mm zoom.

Very impressive, John. I really like the sky in the first shot. Is that an in-camera panorama, or did you stitch it together in post?

John, Greg and Nandakumar, thanks for your comments.
Greg, the original Panorama was made from 10 portrait images stitched in CS6. I find that if there is sufficient overlap, Ps does a half decent job The XT-1 does have a sweep panorama capability but I never think to use it. I was wondering about projects for next year. I thought I might see what would result if I set the camera to mono for a while. Equally I could explore the Sweep Panorama facility. It's a thought.

I like both images. John...the clouds are crispy in #1 and the view is an excellent sweep whereas in #2, seeing the top of the mountain with that cloud and the foreground must be a sight to behold ... I love them both.

Re: Salzburg Curiosities.
Interesting backstory to the images. Also interesting that the perspective was shot from the castle wall. Well done.
