Nice capture, has a bit of distortion from the angle at which the shot was taken.
Wow Brian, that is a major project!
You should have an image distortion tool with your soft ware. It's a foreshortening of limbs or objects that's created by your angle of view/position to the subject. You'll notice how the legs look shorter than the upper torso. It's an effect used in art to create a 3-dimensional subject, however it can look strange if the effect is too deliberate. Most editing software has a distortion correction tool that is often used to make subjects appear thinner or larger than they really are.

I'm sure that's deeper than the last time we saw it!
Have you got a similar sized hill elsewhere in the garden too?
If you're not going to have a fish pond, what will you do with it?
Not sure what your soil is like, nor the 'water table' in your ground - in the clay soil where I live, any hole more than about 6 inches (or 150mm) deep will fill with water without the need for rain!
I can't say I see any distortion myself; his entire thigh is hidden by his shorts, the waist of which must be quite low, although that in turn hidden by his T-shirt. At the distance this appears to be taken, I'm not convinced there's a need to correct anything. I am assuming the bamboo pole used for the ladder is curved in reality.
Actually it is a different part of the garden. But you are right it is a lot deeper. I may have to create a map. Even at my widest panoramic shot I'm not getting in the whole garden.
If not a fish pond then a deep and cool moss garden?
Our soil changes dramatically from hard pan about 2 meters down to boulders and good soil at three meters or deeper thrown out the last time the volcano popped. One of the realities we work with is that during a serious downpour we can receive 8 inches or 20 CM in half an hour so drainage is crucial.
The bamboo is indeed curved in reality.
If he dug those holes all by himself, he's more than a most excellent handyman.
Fish 'pond'? It looks more like a fish farm, Brian. I cannot think of the name of this place that your shot reminds of, but here is an old album cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me1xm8dduL4 Perhaps someone can jog my memory?
From someone who dug holes for 10 years, I understand the intensity of his work. It was a kind and thoughtful decision you made to support his family instead of the get er done now approach.
