It may therefore suggest you might take action by softening the clothes and sharpening the faces?
I can see why you have framed/cropped as you have based on the subject's body, but that stack of bags in front of mother doesn't help either - perhaps try a crop that eliminates them (and her finger tips)? Although - that then 'chops' her through the elbow, which isn't good either.

This is why I don't attempt street/candid photography myself, I like to be in control and get put off (with my own shots) by the uncontrollable aspects that almost inevitably get in to the shot. Perhaps I should try harder!
That's also not to discourage you; since despite my perception of these shortcomings, the shot is still educational to me, living in a different culture and continent.
