Yes some are a bit soft, birds are very difficult to capture. Might've needed 1/4000sec and still their jerky movement would be difficult to capture.
Well Bobo, at least the subject is sharp - and interesting.
Thanks, Dave
Thanks John, Dave.
Well I did absolve myself at the beginning of the thread. 1/4000 at that spot? Impossible. Certain parts of the area could not be had even at 10000 and lower then 1/1000. Mind you only had the 7D2 at the time. Might have been better with the 1Dx but that was in for repair of that light leak issue I mentioned a while back. All fixed now.
Did plan on doing more sessions but had to return to Canada well ahead of schedule so...
It has been around already since spring and I think he will be there still on my next trip. We shall see.
A white sparrow - looks angelic. Love the moment in #3 (such a bewildered/sad expression).
Truly special to view. Thank you for sharing.
Very cool, great captures as well.
You posted a white sparrow and Bernard posted a white blackbird. Both first for me.
Thanks Christina, Jim.
Glad you like them, warts and all.
I am another that likes them warts and all. Not that I noticed any particularly offensive warts....
Now that's interesting. Well captured.
Great images; to choose my favorite, i go for #4, with the least disturbance of surroundings
I'll be damn lucky to find an albino sparrow amongst my flock of sparrows in my backyard feeder, but if I do, it will be a wish come true... So LUCKY YOU!!!! I am really envious...the question in my mind when I saw that first image was, how did she know it is a sparrow...and I saw the next images after and those answered my question....Well done...
Good catch Bobo. I like them all but particularly no 5.
Dave
PS Your self assessment is a bit harsh
Thanks Paul. Dan, Nandakumar, Izzie, Dave.
Glad you find them interesting.
My own assessment might sound harsh but if you are able to see them at 100% you will know that there is lots to be desired.
Apart from the obvious that was stated in the opening post here are some others.
Firstly white, needs some light to bring out the feathers. The light will create a bit of shadow - that is what brings out the white not the white itself.
Background/Foreground - I really would prefer it on grass or in the bushes, not on concrete. The vegetation that is around it is horrible. Only that city plants those horrible looking leaves (simply because no maintenance is required). No only this park, it is every park, every roadside flower bed, under every flyover. You should see the trees - all are the same. Horrible.
they could be a lot worse!
Insightful my friend, insightful.
Certainly could have...
You are too harsh on yourself...sometimes the ideal photo situation cannot be achieved...you have a lot more of those beautiful close-up birds in the past and admired you for them that most of time I cannot imagine being able to imitate but that is besides the point. That you had shown us (me) a different sort that I can watch sometime of a common specie of sparrow is more than enough for me...at least I've learned something...and that albino one is unique. Be gentle with yourself...you've got a good shot of it there. Perfect the shot that you can. Besides it is not really a shabby shot.
Thanks Izzie.
Well sometimes I am not sure. Perhaps an excuse to go at it again. No plans to be at that place for some time and hopefully the guy is still around.
Yes, I agree could be a lot worse. Iso constantly running from 3200-10000 was quite off-putting.
