Panasonic "Post Focus" and focus stacking
Hi,
I am waiting for my G7 to come into stock and be delivered, Naturally I have been reading up all about it, including the "Post Focus" capability delivered by the latest firmware.
Basically, this uses a combination of 4K video and the G7 DFD focusing to generate a series of up to 49 x 8mp images, each focused at a different depth in the scene, from a single shutter press. I have seen examples of using a selection of these images to feed into focus stacking software.
It sounds a rather neat idea to me, if not for "serious" macro photography, then for having fun without investing in rails and so on.
Has anyone tried it, yet?
Dave

Re: Panasonic "Post Focus" and focus stacking
Hi Dave
I don't have a G7 but I just happened to read about this post focus facility the other day. I hope you can give us a demo when you get your camera ! It's an interesting concept, but I guess, as they say, the devil is in the detail.
Dave
