I wrote about artists using photography as the medium of choice. This was on my Learning Log for the course I'm currently studying. It's at - https://dmackimagesdotorg.wordpress....oup-study-day/

I can't really find the words ....... beautiful, haunting are two very inadequate ones that come to mind. As Donald implies - trully artistic

    Hi Sharon,

I will take the plunge, admit to my complete ignorance when it comes to visual art and ask for help. I don't get it. I see a dirty whitish patch in a dirty blackish frame with some ill defined silhouettes. I would sincerely like to understand what you are doing but it completely eludes me.

I need help understanding this stuff. I think that I can appreciate some art. Donald's misty landscapes come to mind. At least I think of them as art. Some of Salvator Dali works resonate with me but a large percentage of what is considered great art completely eludes me. For example, I can't understand how a painting of a common can of soup can be called a masterpiece (Worhal) while a painting of a horse headed for a collision with an oncoming train(Colville) isn't considered worthy of hanging in an art gallery.

I am not looking for an arts course here but I would be very grateful if you could explain what you were trying to convey with you post.

    Hi Andre,

I was going for a post Apopolyptic dawn...hence the title...! The figures, deliberately ill defined as they represent 'any man/woman' but with one clearly ahead, venturing out of wherever they have been 'holed up' into the dark, murkiness of how their world has changed, bewildered and more than a little frightened. They are all looking towards a hazy sky. A new dawn, a new day....a new world.....but is it a good one?

Of course that's just what the figures suggested to me when I saw them..I have a 'Film Noir' sort of mind.

Thank you John, Nanda, Donald and Kaye..!

    Hi Sharon,

Your artwork certainly match that narrative... or is it vice versa. I have been told before that I lack imagination. There must be some truth to that because I would never have inferred that story from the picture.

    Thank you and well done.

Sharon, a good strong image and while I liked it without the words, I feel it more with them. Sometimes like Andre I struggle to 'get' the message in some art, have to say in yours I tend to get the art but not always the message. If that maks sense
