    Trow Rocks

Jumped in the car this morning and drove a few miles up the coast picking a fellow XT-1 shooter up on the way. It was nice to swap lenses, swap settings and see how we both approached the same scene with the same gear but from different visualisations.

I've been meaning to get a shot of these rocks at low tide for a while, I've plenty where they're poking out the surf but not completely exposed. The sun was - lets be kind and say - fleeting so I had to hang about for 10-15 minutes before I got any of it on the rocks which were otherwise big, black and lumpy.

Loaded the RAF files into LR CC for a quick tweak, over to Nik SEP2 for my favourite mono settings and a re-size using PS CC as I prefer the control you get over LR's offerings.

    Trow Rocks
    Camera: Fujifilm X-T1
Lens: Samyang 12mm f/2.0 NCS CS
Exposure: Auto exposure, Aperture priority AE, 1/80 sec, f/11, ISO 200, Compensation: +0.33

Is that a poodles face that has been petrified in the left hand stone or is it just my eyes?

Ian...I can't decipher the poodle face, but there is a froggy shape in the second rock with a leg that forms the shadow, then the third one is that of a lion king looking towards the sea...aw...it is too early in the morning to look for faces...it is 4:22am, just past my bedtime...

Anyway, moving on...I like the heavy feel of those 4 rocks anchoring the image itself as Izzie is beginning to get interested in Black and White lately, she think this is a very good one. Those clouds must have been beautiful in colour too...

Nice composition. They look like they're lined up ready to play leapfrog. Great sky as well.

Love the low angle. It almost looks calm - and I know it's not up in your neck of the woods at present

Yuppers, I do indeed see a poodley face, actually it looks a lot like my doodle.
