    Re: After Eight

Excellent composition, Jeroen, very striking (). If I might suggest, I wonder if more DOF would be: I like the dramatic angle and crop with the tight focus on the clock, but having some bokeh at top and bottom seems to add another element that doesn't quite fit, to me. I sure hope others will jump in if they disagree.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Well, I got it, but didn't want to state the obvious!

I did get it, but I will admit that the (xenon) bulb didn't go on until I looked at the title.

The drops of water really make the first one, Dave: perfect. And excellent focus on the Magic's eyes: maybe could have added some flash, filled in the near side of her face a bit? Just a thought.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Bit late getting these in, Dropped my wife at an 'end of term do' and had to kill a couple of hours .

Wanderered down to Gas St Basin , a kind of little Venice in the middle of the city. Then back to Holloway Circus where there is a really odd 'modern' glass fronted tower block.

The sky was developing nicely when I picked her up a bit later. Nothing too fantastic, but quite good fun for all that.

Nice series, James. I particularly like the last one: great mood, and the aircraft is a really nice touch. Did you consider doing perspective correction on the first two? It doesn't do much harm in the second, seems to make the tall building feel taller, but it's a bit distracting in the first.

    Cheers,
    Rick

I'm with Dave - although I must admit it took me a few minutes - my daughter wondered what the scream 'I got it' was all about.

Mouthwatering, António! I like the first double frame, with it just starting to cook and then with it flipped. A nice sequence of cooking on the grill. Great concept.

    Re: Which Way?

I like it, Chriss: signs of confusion. Is there any way to get a little more DOF? The "One Way" in the background is blurred enough that it blunts the impact of the two signs in the opposite directions.

    Cheers,
    Rick

    Too kind of you Rick
    Thanks.
May be a stupid/silly question which you will answer as you wish of course: Do you have any connection whatsoever with Portuguese people ?

Re: In honour of those occasions when we take ourselves a little too seriously!

Rick, thanks, it was a long day yesterday and it after midnight when I finally got to review the shots, so all abit rushed.
Of the 3 the sky is my favourite too. Aircraft was deliberate, but then, I was looking along the flight path. I love watching clouds develop in the evening and yesterday was rapid change and a lot of interest.

Your point about the canal boat shot is well made. I was on a btidge looking acros and interested in the diverging rails intersected by the line of the boats. I did a quick adjust but I think I'll have to go back and have another go.

Thew building I deliberately left cos I was interested in the interaction between the curving wall of the underpass and the converging parallels of the building. Its not tall by US standards but its one of the largest in Birmingham and I've had my eye on it for a while.

PAD is proving usefull pushing me to try a few shots where I reckon I'll be going back and spending more time getting things right!

    cheers,
    James
