Alan, a very nice shot. I agree with Manfred about sharpening, it takes it up another notch.

Hi Alan, i'd tune the image via post processing a bit more gritty, dark...a bit more like Film Noir look...more contrasty also...if you know what i mean...darker...and push out the fine details a bit more...think that would be great. But it's your picture, and also here i am on my linux rig, the WinDOS box is being broken..currently, so no PS, my bad.
I think I know what you're after Marc. My software won't do it though.
I think when it uploads thru that TinyPic sight it looses some of the grittiness I had in it on my second re-do.
Thanks Gerry, glad you liked it.
Nice image of a beautiful camera!
Alan You have not told us what editor you have so as usual I see what I can do with 'Paint dot Net' a free download which could mean you do not have to wait for Santa or whoever Else Amazon USA may have previous years version of Paint Shop Pro and anything from the ancient V.8 is pretty good and I bought v.13 when visiting the States for US$15 [ that is v. ProX3 ] ... not seen as good a deal when browsing since I put it in my Notebook and found it little difference to X4 on my Desktop back home . To all intents and most purposes PSP is as useful as Photoshop from when I had both v.7 and CS, both pirate versions which went with change of computers though the Russian suppliers of CS fooled Adobe into treating me as a full paid-up customer.
Anyway I did a selection of just the front leather and the lens here using Paint.Net and sharpened it ... no great skill or anything involved and I never sharpen at 100% only after reducing to the size I normally post my shots here 700<800 across and simply use PSP's Sharpen or Sharpen More ... do not have a clue how to use USM or the other system PSP offers.
Likewise for conversion to B&W I use the PSP tool and maybe put the curves adjustment layer on it
Anyway here is the P.N version ....
Cropped as it is the camera that is interesting and the lettering tells us what it is sitting on with a book being a book whatever. I fully expect I could have cloned out the lens reflections if they had bothered me
each to their own ....
edit do people know the difference between X and M ? X is for electronic flash and M accounts for the delay of a flash bulb, magnesium etc, to fully burn up to useful light output. My first flash was using bulbs a long time ago with a Speed Graphic 5x4 and a crazy flash gun which had to be cocked as well as the shutter .... and would fire the bulb without the shutter openning if the shutter was not cocked.... say no more GRRRRUR I demonstarated painting with light with the shutter closed and this is the painting my boss did afterwards with his little Mecablitz gun.
A copy off a photo .... Sorry Tinypix will not accept it for some reason

John - I'm a SOOC kind of shooter. My editor is CyberLink's PhotoDirector, which came on my computer much to my surprise. It's pretty basic, but does what I need it to do.
I did do some reading up on Paint.Net and may be trying that out just for grins. Thanks.
