    Early morning paddle in B&W

Been going through some photos from this past year looking for something to print for the lake house...I think I found it.

Nice image Jon and definitely suitable for a lake house

It might be my monitor but it is a little dark, perhaps raise the shadows a little bit?

I'd agree with that. Though I also agree with Matt and think I'd like to try it a little less dark.

Matt and Donald, Thank you for your comments. I tried lightening it up but for me, it just lost the feel that I had for it.
These two will be with it...I think???

Hi Jon, I very much like the feel of the first shot. I haven't tried lightening it, but I can see why you wouldn't want to.

Although we Brits certainly talk about paddling a canoe, used on its own to go for a paddle means something quite different. I was expecting to see kids ankle deep in the ocean!

Good. That's what it's all about for me. We (the creators of the image) need to have that 'feel' that what we've done is right. Once we get that, then it's up to others to choose to like it ... or not.

Donald, when I was working on this I tried EVERY option, and then some, but kept coming back to the same one. This was taken on a very sentimental morning after losing my Father to cancer. This was a dark time for me, hence the darker tone.

    Cheers

I like the first one, Jon. Likely most togs will think it needs more contrast. But I get the feel your going for. I guess one has to have been sitting in a kayak looking at such a scene to fully appreciate it. Yes it looks like a good one for a lakehouse wall.
