Just ordered a new lens

I just ordered a Sigma 70-200mm OS f/2.8 for my canon 5D. I got a nice price on it and am looking forward to trying it out. I bought it to replace my older Tokina 80-200mm f/2.8, which I will be selling upon the sigma's arrival. It's a nice lens and takes clear pictures, but 80mm is a bit to close for a lot of situations and it does not have internal focusing or IS.

Enjoy your new lens! Having image compensation (or other shake control) on a lens of this focal length will open doors to you. When I switched from the 70-200mm f/4L to the 70-200mm f/4L IS lens, I was no longer restricted to bright light, high shutter speeds or using a high ISO. The Image Stabilization pretty much gave me the freedom to shoot where and when I desired.

I have a 5D2 coming shortly and I am anxious to try out the 70-200mm lens on that camera!

70-80mm not much of a difference but you'll get used to the limitation if you haven't already. At least you'll never have to worry about someone saying you need to get closer. Have fun.

You're assuming that both lenses focus breath to the same degree........

70mm or 80mm, I can make up that distance with my shaking hands.

Yeah. But you do gain a little on the wide side. This is noticeable when changing between the 50D and the 5D.
