Hello Peter,
Thanks! Yes, you would be correct, the handles are spring loaded and snap back into place when you let it go.
Hello Peter,
Thanks! Yes, you would be correct, the handles are spring loaded and snap back into place when you let it go.
Hello there, Peter!
Hope everything is going your way!
I’m with you on the harsh terrains. And I have a lot of recent shots of same. I found myself admiring your shot for the same reason. Looks like my kind of place!
The rock would probably light right up during the morning and especially the evening hours. If it received the morning or evening light. I can’t be sure because I didn’t get to see it at either time of day. But the shot was taken on the Green River, in Labyrinth Canyon, in Utah, USofA.
Being in a canyon, I found that the sun gave its best light on the rim and a lot of times, the “good” light never really reached into the canyon proper. Sometimes, depending on how wide the canyon was or if you could see some of the upper walls where you were during the evening hours, you might catch a bit of the sweet light on something. But that was the exception instead of the rule, unfortunately.
If everyone would please forgive me for posting a non-triangular shot as an example, you might get something on the order this if you were lucky…
This is a good example of what I considered a lucky evening. On the water, in the bottom of the canyon, the nice light that you hope for just never happened. It would go from bright and harsh to shadow with no in-between, as you can see from the lower walls.
Nice, Wendy.
Wendy, my kind of image I love the simplicity. Cloning the tree tops out at bottom left may be worthwhile.
Steve
Thanks Terry,
Looks like my type of country.
Thanks for this one Kit. This is what I am about in landscapes using the sides of the frame and the shapes within to form triangles to strenghten the composition
Great shot Wendy. Really sttrong composition.
The colours, textures and shapes are fantastic but the use of appropriate proportion for each element is excellent - in my humble opinion.
Thanks Steve, I believe sub consciously your abstract triangles on the first page of this thread, and which I believe you have posted previously were the inspiration for this shot. Let's put it this way, a year ago, I would not have taken this shot.
Thanks Peter, I did have to do some cropping, glad I hit the mark. From Peter: Great shot Wendy. Really Strong composition.

Wendy,
Thanks Rob. I agree 100% on the edit, I notice you took out that wisp of cloud top left too. It's much better without it there. I was thinking of doing some cloning myself, but got lazy especially because of having to clone along the edge of the structure. From Rob: My kind of shot, and well observed. I agree with Steve that it needs the trees cloning out. I did an edit, if that's OK, and also levelled the horizon line. Great triangles!
Thanks everyone for your kind comments. I find myself doing more and more shots like this, much to the chagrin of family and friends who are always asking me what is that and why did you take a picture of it. They think you guys/girls are a bad influence on me.
Wendy
Thanks Rob. If memory serves me, I did what you said one time in Elements and it worked. Then the next time I tried it did not work. I will give it another shot. It would be very useful if I could count on it working all the time.
