Christmas Lights - Downtown Ottawa

I spent some time downtown last night hoping to take a few shots of the rare snowless Christmas we are having this year. Unfortunately, the two sites I was trying to photograph were far too popular, so I headed over to the Laurier Ave Bridge and shot the ice-free Rideau Canal. The change booths and ramps are in place, but the water in the canal is still quite wet.

Last year's skating season was the longest on record, due to the extreme cold weather we had. This year could end up being the shortest....

Nicely captured, although the scenery is different the number of people out and about seems to have increased, so there is an upside to the weather (for those who just love the white stuff) and makes for something special for photographers to capture.

Being near the equator, it is hard to imagine Canada without the snow...whereas my friend from Colorado has dumps of them in his backyard. This is much beautiful for the colours ...
