I am not a Nikonophile but, have nothing against that brand of camera.

I can relate to Manfred's comment, "I have always found the small viewfinder in a crop frame camera marginal. "

The viewfinders of the Canon 1.6x crop cameras in the xxxD and xxxxD range of cameras are IMO inferior to the viewfinders on my 7D cameras. The 7D has a pentaprism viewfinder which is brighter, the 7D affords 100% viewfinder coverage and the 7D has a larger viewfinder....

I wonder if there are differences in viewfinders between the top-line Nikon crop models and the entry models like there is in the Canon family of DSLR cameras.

I don't really notice any great difference in viewfinder between my full frame 5Dii and my 7D.
