    Refections

I posted these in another post that I submitted in the equipment forum, but I thought I would also post them here. Constructive advice is welcome.

The first photo was taken a couple of summers ago, it was very peaceful lake with unbelievable reflections.

    Refections

The second photo was taken this past summer, I snapped this photo just in the nick of time before a gentle breeze came up and rippled away the reflection.

Nice sense of depth with that foreground branch to the left, good capture of the reflections and sky, first works better as second has less detail in sky.

I agree with John...I like the first one better too...the framing is very good too. Actually it is the framing that draw my eyes to the shot. So with #2 but # is more brighter and more alive...

    Re: Refections

Both very good, but for me the second has more appeal - I think the mountain reflection more than makes up for the sky.

However, I do find the foreground rocks abit overpowering and distracting, and I think I'd crop them down a bit. I'd also clone out that twig bottom right that intrudes into the water.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Both images work in different ways for me. The how much the brilliant colors in the first one works, that much the muted colors in the second one!!! The multi converging lines in the first one add special interest to the first

Both beautiful locations but I prefer the first. I'm drawn into the image, very nice.

    Re: Refections

#1 for me, I really like how the high is drawn to the centre, like a vanishing point, and I like the cloud reflection in the lake.

That's not to say that #2 is bad, not at all, but I don't like the colour of the trees! I'm not suggesting they don't look real, it's probably just me, but sometimes I look at grass in sunlight, and think if I took a shot of that, and it looked like how it does right now, I'd de-saturate it in post! And I feel a little like that about the trees

But to reiterate, for me number one is number one!

I like both these and guess, from the EXIF, that you spent quite a while doing some localised and/or gradient adjustments in LR5.4.

I had some thoughts on alternate crops, or removing the odd branch here and there, but after moving the LyteBox about to try them myself, decided that I preferred what you have now.

Glad you posted them here, Dave

Thank you Dave for your compliments. As for the adjustments I didn't do that much in the first photo, but yes I did do more in the second photo.

    Re: Refections

Definitely some awesome reflections. In situations with a featureless sky as in the second shot, it's worth a thought towards a composition that eliminates it completely. Sometimes it works. As you know every situation is different.

Both photos are awesome. On the second my eye drawn to the lighten area above the rock in the foreground. You might consider cropping them down as Dave suggested.

I really like both of these Kathy. Nothing to say that hasn't been pointed out already.
