    Metz flash question for Nikonians

I have never owned a Nikon camera or a Metz flash, so I am hoping one of you Nikonians can help.

My son recently bought himself a Nikon D3300, in large part for taking pictures of kids. I warned him that he would probably want a bounce flash. I looked a few days ago, and Nikon i-TTL bounce flashes are far more expensive than their Canon counterparts. So, I thought I would look at Metz flashes, which many people have recommended. The Metz Mecablitz 44 AF-1 looks roughly comparable in function and price to my Canon 430 EXII, and the cheaper 36 might suffice.

Both are advertised as having i-TTL compatibility.

Does anyone know if there is likely to be any problem using one of these with the D3300?

    Many thanks.

I realize it isn't much help, but I have a Metz 52AF that I use with my Pentax K-30. Works just fine, although I must admit that I don't have a Pentax flash to compare it to.

My bet is that as long as you buy the correct version the Metz will work.
