    World's smallest supermarket

This was taken a couple of years ago on Dundas Street in the heart of the original Chinatown, here in Toronto.
I'd often pass this very tiny fruit and vegetable store that was only about five or six feet wide and not much deeper from front to back. On this particular day the proprietor was standing in front of her wares which were of necessity always displayed on wooden stands outside the shop. There was an aspect of humour to this situation because the shop was so small that all business was conducted outside the premises. So I quickly grabbed this shot as I walked by.

Nice capture, is he responding to you or just going about his business?

    Thanks, John.
She was just going about her business.
This was grabbed on the fly, as many people down there down there are not happy about being photographed. Likely a distrust of strangers photographing based on experiences with government back in China, so many of my candids are shot from the hip.

You must understand some Asian people, especially the Chinese...they do not talk much outside of their family no matter how many friends nor acquaintances they have. It has been taught and ingrained in them from childhood. Most of them are survivors. They tend to talk of something or someone else and very animated, but not about their life itself. Anyway, this is a nice shot and I like the colourful produce that she has there...
