Why not start with just getting your work out there? Social media would be a good start. Do you have a photography Facebook page? Instagram and Tumblr are also popular, although Instagram seems to be a bugger to use from your computer (you have to set up a virtual Android environment first). If that takes off, a website would be the logical next move.

    You can do it!

I've had an Instagram account for about a week! I've had a few likes from apparently professional photogs tho!

A FB page isn't something I'd considered, but its a good idea

I'm already paying for web hosting, which I don't use (I just needed the email) so I also thought about a blog

Why not go for Tumblr, then? There are some excellent photographers on there and images get about when people reblog or like them.

I am saying all this and I still haven't opened an Instagram account, although I know I must. It is all that software wrangling that puts me off.

Congratulations! The only image that I have sold for publication was one of my local Sewage Treatment Plant! Hardly an artistic image.

A great achievement Adam and you deserve to savour the moment. These are the 'highs' we need to enjoy so that when the inevitable 'lows' come we can be encouraged as we look back. You have some very creative images on your Flickr site, so keep going

Adam, just found this blog post on maximising Instagram followers. I have skimmed it and seems to have some good ideas. Thought it might be of use to you.

    Thanks very much Max,

I have found Instagram to be a little underwhelming so this can only help!

This week I have also set up a blog, it should be linked in my signature

I went with a blog because I already pay for web space (that I wasn't using) and I like the idea of a platform that I have total control over!

As well as show casing my work, the blog also gives me a platform to speak, so it seemed to be a good option.... I can't manage to get the stats to work, so I've no idea how poorly I'm doing (probably for the best!!)
