Izzie, handy little P&S you got, takes some good quality pics. As for the images, 4, 5 & 6 are my favs.
And whatever procedure you have going on today, good luck.

Thank Jack...I survived my operation apparently -- because I am now up and about in the middle of night after having a good rest. And boy! am I hungry!!!
Binnur, thanks for caring...I am OK...my doctor so I have been told and saw pictures of in a magazine is one of the best surgeon in 2014. I was more than taken cared of by the nurses and the assistant anesthetist that attended me during the whole procedure up to taking me to the car. All were smiling and laughing at my jokes...never do they know that it was a tactic I decided to adapt to keep me from really getting worried and scared of needles.
Thank you both for the extra comments...
Since I am running out of time, I decided to go with Bill to Creve Coeur Airport to see if there are any improvement in the flood situation there...following are the images I took going around...
1 Across the runway...This cornpatch used to be filled with airplanes from when we hosted a fly-in in 2012...now it is all muddy and wet...
2 Back of the hangars at the end -- not a good shot so I did a mono on this one...still flooded and slightly frozen..
3 Looks like Creve Coeur lake here but it is not...if you zoom in a bit closer, you can see the back of the hangars further out.
4 Near the new hangars...what a mess!
5 Shot across the street going to the airport...mud! mud! and more mud!
For C&C if you may...thanks for viewing...
Cheers
Izzie
Hi Isabel, another good series And a lot of mud indeed
Some comments from me:
1- Nice image,I would clone the cyan clored thing among the trees
2- I would crop the row of clouds at the top and remove the strong vignette. If you want to add a vignette IMO an unnoticeable vignette works better. I would also try a bright vignette instead of a dark one to see how it works, because the image has a foggy mood. BnW suits the image very well and I like it.
3- A very nice image . IMO you overdid the clouds (too much structure or sharpening?), I would soften them a bit.
4- Might your shadow be cloned out ?
5- I think you pointed your camera downwards when shooting and that's why there is some distortion in the image but it can be fixed easily with PP.
Late to this party - apologies Izzie and hope you are recuperating well.
Lovely colours you are capturing at present and particularly like the skies in 1 and 3 of this week's set. I am with Binnur regarding cloning yourself out in no 4 - or next time you are shooting, try and make yourself more of a feature ?
I was too far away so I thought it wouldn't matter. I will correct that..
If I remove the clouds I thought it would be bare. I will just remove the vignette to start with and see how I go there first...the original was so drab and uninteresting and blown up middle to the left side so I did a mono to pep it up a little bit...2- I would crop the row of clouds at the top and remove the strong vignette. I like the composition of the original but the middle of the cloud was overblown so I tried hiding it by the colouring...making it warmer...so softening it I thought will not work hence I tried to decrease the highlights instead...not much structure, only in Viveza when trying to tone down the brightness...the structure of the cloud was almost as it was...3- A very nice image . Actually, that wasn't my shadow...it was interesting to me at the time so I included it in the image...I think it belongs to a chimney on a truck parked there nearby. I hate to say it, but it looks phallic.4- Might your shadow be cloned out ?
Yes...there are others but I was having a hard time already on my chest and wanted to go home at the time while I keep thinking...one more shot, one more shot and I'll stop. Well, I jumped in my car and headed home, to realize later on three blocks away that I have to go back because I forgot Bill brought me to the airport and we used my SUV...5- I think you pointed your camera downwards when shooting and that's why there is some distortion in the image but it can be fixed easily with PP.
Thank you for commenting and suggesting improvements. I do appreciate it very much...more than you know...
Read my response to Binnur...I daren't repeat it again...LOL
Thank you for passing by...you are never late to comment to any of my post. I try to make it as interesting as I can and so far on this second week you are the second so not late...Binnur always pick up my post. I just wonder how she does it..so I try to pick up on everyone's post too by saing a link if I cannot manage to do it in one sitting...
Thanks Kaye. Do appreciate your commenting...
Hi Isabel.
#2 is such an image that IMO bareness would suit the image.
#3 when you decrease the highlights too much sometimes the edges of the clouds become too noticeable as if the clouds have been added structure. May be this is the case in the image.
#4 Great imagination!
#5 I'm glad that you remembered Bill only three blocks away .
BTW I pick up your posts completely coincidentally. May be because of the time difference between two countries. When you finish the day and go to sleep , I wake up and start the next day
Nice images Izzie, you have some great compositions in there.
With #2 and 3 it rather looks as though there is dirt on your lens, or a splash of water etc, on the left side.
I was certainly concerned about the shadow in #4 which, as you mentioned, looked to me like a large . . .
The last image is working well.
Hope you are doing well after your surgery Izzie .
My stepson lives in Carthage The didn't get any flooding but some parts of town did.
I see what you mean on the dirt thing...must be my hands...it took me a while to assess the environment to see how I am going to take these shots, I forgot about wiping my hands...have to get that habit of peering at a scene with an apple in one hand...
Yeah ... that large shadow, Geoff...If I did not crop that image because of the date imprint, it was worst because of the blob of mud on the ground. 'Showed it to Bill and had a good laugh...not to mention a sharp look. I think I might experiment on removing that to make a better image. I like that scene and the last one because of the autumn-y colour thing, the other one because of that red metal too.
Thanks as usual, Geoff for commenting and making me think. I had fun editing better than taking those shots.
We didn't either but Creve Coeur is so much lower hence after the 1993 floods where we personally lost quite a few airplanes, we decided we will only have two working ones...the rest can stay as pick-a-parts. Then the levee was built after that 1993 so this time around the boys volunteered packing some sandbags...Not bad this time around though several trips and sleepless night waiting for the cresting was the worst part. Apart from being allowed to go out to take some pictures for this project and healing, I was banned from going anywhere...
I am doing fine, Mark...thanks for commenting...each day is different, it is an up and down battle with healing. It is a week today forgetting that I am allergic to latex so last night wasn't a pleasant experience. Hopefully today will be better. I hate doing nothing ... I will not be a good candidate for Alzheimer's.
Thanks for commenting and wishing me well...I do appreciate it very much.
Great series Izzie. The reflections in #3 make it my gavourite although 8 & 9 are close seconds.
+1 to Binnur's comments, nice compositions and interesting processing.
My one suggestion, Izzie, would be to change up your perspective a bit, as in your very first image at the top of this thread. Put on your rubber boots and work those reflections in the water, and the mud and the juxtaposition of the buildings, the water and the mud.
