Wonderful shot with the moving prayer wheel... I can also see this as a square crop. Either way, I think that brightening the shadows on the image right side of the monks face helps a bit...

Tejal - I like the shot, but I would have probably taken it in a horizontal / landscape orientation. This being said would be even more aggressive with my crop than Richard was to focus more attention on the monk and less on the rest of the image. It's really getting into an environmental portrait with this crop.

Yes, cropped version is looking nice. I checked my treasure but it seems i missed to take a horizontal shot. I generally take in both way .

Yes revised crop is quite good in fact. . And I missed to take the horizontal frame, i generally dont do that .

Yes i made it dark. I think in original wheel is looking better.

I prefer the crop of Manfred, Tejal because your title suggests "The Buddhist Monk" -- to me with the original one, the prayer wheel overpowers the smallist monk. I thought of Manfred's crop but he did it first, still showing the environmental factor of the image so his crop still do not detract from the monk.

This is an interesting image and all of the suggestions are valid. But I think is is a pity to crop out the top of the prayer wheel. I can't help wondering what it would have looked like in horizontal format with negative space to the left side (similar to your mushroom image). In any event, your original is impressive also.
