Nice composition, the lights in the background are a bit dazzling though, not enough detail so they just appear as blobs.

Its a very nice photo. I like the reflections of the lights on the water and the soft look of the blue in the water. I agree with John about the lights.

Thanks! Is there something you can do about the lights, though?

    Re: The Rocks

    Hi 'Damers',

Firstly, a warm welcome to the CiC forums from me.

The sky (and rock) tones say 'daytime' to me, but the lights and their reflections belie the real time to be either pre-sunrise, or post-sunset, so the image appears a little contradictory to my senses.

If you shot RAW, I also wondered whether the over exposed lights in the village could be locally treated to reveal more detail there. This could be accomplished in PS CC by some 'dodging' over those areas.

The image has good depth, I bet it would look even better if we could see it larger.

The dark mass of the large foreground rock is somewhat overpowering (to the rest of the image), but I couldn't find a better crop than what you have done.

Could you do me a favour please?
Could you click Settings (right at the top),
    then Edit Profile (on left)
and put your first name in the Real Name field
and where you are (roughly) in the Location field,
then click the Save Changes button below and to right,
this helps everyone give you more personal and relevant answers - thanks in advance.

    Hi Dave,

I darkened the lights as well as the whole image to get rid of the contradictory feel. Look much better now!

    Thanks again!

    Hi Krystof,

I see you're in Prague, a very nice city I passed through last year (2015) for a day or so.

    Glad to help, Dave

I like the scene but there are some dark areas...I took the liberty of loading your image in Photoshop and lighten it a little bit in Nik's Viveza like this --

    The Rocks

If you do not want me or others editing your image, please say so, so I can take it down...If you click on either this image or yours, you can see the difference by clicking the arrows ...

Interesting result! I like how the texture of the rocks stands out. Great inspiration, thank you!

Welcome Krystof I like the composition . I find Isabel's edit better as it shows the sunset time better.

    Re: The Rocks

Welcome Krystof! Overall very nice. You certainly have a great feel for composition and color. Maybe when shooting scenes like this again, try multiple exposures. Would love to have seen the distant lights exposed correctly in-camera so they would have those nice star points from the smaller aperture. Great work!
