In the eye of the beholder

Street candid taken in Kensington Market here in Toronto.
I was passing by a tattoo parlour when I noticed a young woman standing just outside who was very heavily adorned with piercings, tattoos and large discs through her earlobes. I asked if I could take her photo. She was kind enough to say yes and I got this shot.

And some say getting permission to take a street portrait isn't street and doesn't work.
A really wonderful photo. She has such expressive eyes.

    Thanks for the comments, guys.
    Adam,
Going through the Metal Detector must be just no end of fun.
    Sergio,
Most of the time I don't ask, but for tight portraits, and of course for close pictures of children I'll always ask.
Worst that happens is they'll say no.
And when I do ask and they agree, I find that schmoozing for a bit with them before I take the shot relaxes them enough so I get natural expressions.
I've been doing it this way almost the entire time I've been shooting (since 1977) and it works well enough for me.

Wonder if it hurt when she fell into the tackle box?

Really though most of the people that I have met that are into that sort of thing are very nice people.

The "slave collar" indicates that she might me into more fetish activities than just self adornment...

Each piece of "jewelry" can be removed. One of the spheres at the end is threaded.

Not entirely, as a slave, the decisions for tattoos and piercings may have all been by her owner.

    Very much so Mark...

40 years ago, punks wore slave collars - not for fetishistic reasons - but tae show their enslavement tae Thatcherite capitalism...Work..Consume...Be silent...Die...

    PS FINE SHOT...
