    Raven at 10 months

    Happy New Year everyone.

I haven't been around much as we had some serious health issues with my beloved pony and we made a very difficult decision to euthanize him the middle of Dec. Since then, I haven't wanted to pick up my camera. Yesterday, was the first day I took it out ~ Raven will be 10 months old tomorrow and I wanted to document that.

I wanted a clean background behind her for a change, so there is white foam board behind her. She has def grown up quickly, and she's still a "wild child".

That's really tough Kim, especially at this time of year. So sorry for your loss.
I'm not really a fan of poodles but your excellent shot makes me think again. I love the eye.
    Have a great New Year.

Sorry to hear about your pony, but what a lovely portrait of your puppy!

I love your choice of background and composition. The profile is perfect.

I see the potential for a bit of a none-traditional crop along these lines.

Kim. I have been playing with background colors and I think that a deep red might (like this BG color) look good also

Thanks... I haven't learned how to swap out backgrounds yet. Maybe I'll use this as a learning opportunity to do so.

Wonderful texture and color in that nearly black-and-white photo! Also sorry to learn about your pony.

Your white background reminds me of Richard Avedon's portraits. As you experiment by replacing it with a background of a different color, keep in mind that your current background has tonal variation in it. It's fine if your replacement background has no tonal variation but only if you consciously decide to make that change.

Sorry to here about the pony Kim.

This is a really nice shot, and I think the background works well.
