Fun how the yacht matches the emblem on the funnel and also how sharper the uncompressed image is compared with what we see here on the thread page. I first found this happening with Manfred's lit-up building recently and likewise here so well worth opening images to full size if you like sharpness

This ship reminds me of when I used to draw pictures of Ocean Liners as a kid - I was always trying to be accurate and recall them having life boats along virtually the entire length of both sides (e.g. Cunard's RMS Queen Mary and RMS Queen Elizabeth) - so the two life boats shown here (also repeated the other side) seem insufficient (although they're no doubt somewhat bigger than the old ones were). I'm assume they are sufficient, along with other life rafts we cannot see, but it just struck me that's all.

Funny how a picture can take you back in time, eh.

Great picture Jeff, well worth viewing large.

Unfortunately, MV Nova Star seems to be an unlucky ship; never made her maiden voyage as per order and (unconfirmed) no longer in use due to financial argey-bargey over the ferry contract in Nova Scotia
I see you took this in September 2015, just before the subsidised ferry contract was cancelled at the end of October.

    Cheers, Dave

Interesting point you make Dave ... Shows the difference in periods. The 'Boat Deck' was always the highest full deck wheras in this part of my photo taken a few days ago of cruise boat Diamond Princess they are down at a practical height for lowering into the sea ... though in view of I guess the many more people she carries compared the Nova Star so she has more boats ....
    Nova Star

I was waiting and hoping the channel in Otago Harbour would make her turn to starboard enough to have the sun on her starboard side but unfortunately for me it didn't until lower down and out of camera range

Right on Dave. That photo was taken right before the Nova Star's demise. I had heard about it and when a nice day came I thought it would be a good time to go and get some shots while she was still in service.
I also took this photo of the ship Liberty Of The Seas on that same day. She has many more lifeboats I think...grin

Jeff, love it. The saturated colours did it for me and I am normally not in favour of it. Would be awesome enlarged.

My, my, that's pretty. I have full-frame, mega-MP envy. My only nit is the water detail, which I would pull back on a bit. But otherwise, very nice.

Love the light in that Jeff. Also, I'm a sucker for lighthouses. Great shot for sure.
