Lovely delicate young rose bud, nicely composed, nice and simple. Also, better without a frame in my opinion.

It is a peculiar thing to me that a painting looks naked without a frame and a photo looks overdressed. But then Myra has never accused me of haing good fashion sense.

I find in general most images posted here for critique work are better without a frame so that the frame does not distract from the image. The exception is where the colours in the image need better delineation from the standard background that the site has, and in that case, a very simple frame should suffice. After all, I suspect you want comments on the image, not your choice of frames.

That being said, as a finished product, I love frames.

That being said, I'm a bit unsure as to what you are trying to do here? You suggest you pushed hard in PP. The shot is quite noisy and soft. Is that what you are trying to do here?

Looks OK, subject to previous comments, but I wonder about a flip so the stem is in the bottom left corner.

I was trying for heavy noisy and soft in the background becoming harder and clearer to bring the bud into highlight.

I tried it flipped but for my eyes once I followed the stem in to the rose i just kept on going out of the shot.

This seems to be what you got, but I'm not sure that it is working. The grittiness / grain from noise can work in some types of images; action shots for instance, but I don't think flower shots generally do well with that type of treatment.

No it started off fairly normal. I was trying for this look nut it just might have been not such a good idea.
