    Braced Against the Cold

It was a cold day (for San Antonians) on this particular visit to downtown. I saw these woman huddled together and trying to keep warm. I really liked the intense look of the two woman.

Nice capture, the guy in the background looks like he's from another time.

Nice shot, Sergio. Maybe a tighter crop with just the women.

    Thanks, John.

One of the reasons I kept him in the frame is I feel he contributes to the retro look of the photo.

    Hi, Dean.

I tried the tighter crop but in my mind his size, distance from the subject, and position in the frame make him a secondary subject and help anchor and balance the composition. Without him, in my thoughts anyway, I lose a certain mood and balance.

Thanks for taking the time to make a suggestion and comment.

We had the coldest January day on record today, the temp never got above 22C. But after looking at your photo I won't complain.

The temperature that day in C was about 5.5. I know that's nothing for other parts of the country, but here in San Antonio anything below 10C feels cold.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting, Richard.

I almost asked you what your temperature was on that day you took this shot and intended to say 80°F?
Anyway, we haven't gone down that much compared to your part of the pond. Ours is much to the 20°F marks in the morning...I like this image very much Sergio...and I like the comment of John up there...so +1 to him.

LOL about the 80°F temperature. My wife and I often joke that if the temperature in San Antonio drops below 80, people will start turning on their heaters.

Izzie, thanks for taking the time to look and your nice comments.

LOL. Actually we have not turned the heater on in about 10 years. If we feel cold, we just put more clothes on. In the rare event we are still uncomfortable, we turn on the fireplace. That's always been enough to bring the environment back up to a comfortable level.

    Thanks for the laugh.
