    The last drag

Taken a few years ago at the corner of Simcoe and Queen in downtown Toronto, home to an ever-changing group of homeless Aboriginal people, until the construction of a mixed-use highrise complex drove them off.

I like the framing and the crop. It creates a very tense, palpable closeness.
    Very effective.

Excellent image. I also like the close crop.

It's just amazing to realize that the cigarette, despite its small size, pops out of the photograph. Well done!

Another well-told story, Robert. This is a classic case study in how a bright object draws the viewer's eyes into the image. As others have noted, the cigarette is tiny, but there it is, pulling us in. While this shot was taken in Toronto, it's a scene I've seen many times in other cities across Canada.

The crop is to my mind perfect. There is a hungry look on the person's face that is somewhat sad. A good photo.
