    Narcissus blooming

White flowers are tough, but this was the only thing indoors this evening. This is a stack of 14 images, stacked in Zerene DMap and retouched from a PMax stack to lessen haloing. C&C welcome as always.

Impressive job on the whites, Dan, but it's not my favorite of your compositions.

That big green leaf(?) in the FG spoils the composition a bit but the flowers look lovely

Thanks for the feedback. That was part of the experiment. It's a sepal--the green, leaf-like structure that encloses the bud before it opens. I was intrigued by the lines and textures in the sepal--it's more interesting that way than the petals--so I deliberately positioned it this way. So your vote is no. I wonder if that is why Janis didn't like it.

Very nice, it would have been nicer if they are pure white? There is a yellowish tinge at my end here...did you use tungsten lighting? Just curious...a little bit of the sepal might be more nicer but overpowering is the case here...

Thanks, all. Izzie, is your monitor calibrated? The photos were shot under halogen lighting, but I always shoot a neutral card (a whiBal) and adjust the white balance at the beginning of processing. I sometimes adjust from there, but this time I didn't: the images were all set to the whiBal white balance.

Yes... it is. Just be sure, this is the colour temperature of halogen and tungsten:

Both are 3200°K. Your image here is at the end of the nearly white spectrum but not quite white...there are some portions that are white at the sides. I may nave worded my message wrong, but it looks like light that is why I said tungsten.

Yes, Dan, I think so. Not that I don't appreciate you including it, because I do, I just think I would like to see more of it and the framing petals.

I just made another double post. Does anyone else running Firefox have trouble posting to this forum?

Just refrain from pressing Reply twice and you'll be right...

yes. Sometimes after I submit a comment, it returns to the screen with the typed comment, not to the forum, even though the comment has been posted. If I hit submit again, it double-posts. This is a relatively new problem for me.

Thanks. I took another, more loosely framed series. I'll fiddle with them and see what I get.

That's exactly what has been happening to me. I have learned to trust that it posted the first time.

    Look forward to seeing them.
