The first image has a couple of strange artifacts / halos on the left and bottom that suggest a PP problem. You have eliminated those issues on your second post. The colours on the second posting definitely have a bit more "pop", but are still a bit too muted for my taste.

You should have seen the colours in he direct sunlight. But yes personal taste counts and a little brighter would not have hurt the image.

Agreed, Brian - personal taste does account for a lot.

I also wonder about your computer screen setup. They often have the brightness turned up out of the box, whereas I have mine set to 120 cd/m2 (done during calibration and profiling), and it is considerably less bright than the factory settings it had.

I have done what I can with the brightness on my monitors. But then that was before I got windows 10 up and running. maybe i can do more now?

Not unless you get one of the x-Rite or Datacolor profiling tools. This can't be done 'by eye".

No, these are all hardware based solutions.

In that case I shall just have to enjoy what I have. We have got a yard and house renovation that will absorb our money for a year or so.

first image looks air suspended and misses something, where as in the second image the darkness in the bottom part suggests the possible presence of the flower stem there and has more natural look....very lovely
