Fun with SOOC JPEGs! (A bit medicore image heavy, fairly warned bes you ;)

    (It's a slow news day)

Here's a change... Shots as is!

All SOOC jpegs from one of my Fujis!

Relax kids, I kept the raw

I realise that raw is best, and I always shoot raw (+ jpeg) but as my editing SW of choice is currently tied up making a catalogue (3+ hrs and counting) so that I can hopefully index the shots on my media drive (....)

I thought, what the hell, lets have a bit of funand share how the camera PP'd these, with some in camera tweaks that I made BEFORE shooting!

Critique is welcome, but obviously PP'ing them rather defeats the fun !!!

That said if one seems very popular I'll gladly attempt to do it justice... (Lizard &/or the rose were my thoughts, what's yours?)

    Enjoy!

    Thanks

From the bottom you mean? And even to lose the corner of the reflected building?

I agree with Nandy about the rose -- dreamy...
I don't like cold slittery things but that lizard was nicely seen. (And here I am scared stiff of them...) How long is it do you think?

    They're tiny Izzie!

About the size of my middle finger. They're not at all slimy to the touch... I've had to rescue a few from the cat before now

I almost prefer the SOOC rose to the PP one, but PP just gave it that extra bit of definition

Was reading your blog...'Discombobulating' ???? Where the heck did you find that word?! I can hardly pronounced it. Anyway, I like the simplicity of your message there at the front page.

I can't lie... Someone posted it as a comment (on flickr) on that shot, so I had to borrow it!

And thanks, the message is it's about the pictures, (not cameras or photoshop, or buying an ebook) and the narrative is hopefully encouraging for people to go out and shoot what they can, where they can, because it's the pictures that matter!

I cover that in this post

    http://adambonnphotography.bonncl.co...you-in-or-out/

But it's going to be a recurrent theme!

    Another SOOC bit of FUN....

Fun with SOOC JPEGs! (A bit medicore image heavy, fairly warned bes you ;)

From my other Fuji this time, not sure what you'll make of it, crop etc

But there's something I find just a little magical about the jpegs from this camera.... Obv YMMV!

I hate words like 'filmic' (not sure it's even a word for one) or course it looks digital, but there's just a certain look to this jpeg setting (low contrast I guess) that, to my eye, invokes something inbetween analogue and digital... Perhaps almost like CD, sitting between vinyl and mp3 !!!!!!!!

My take on photography is that the photographer begins to formulate an image when he/she uses his recording device (camera, cell phone, etc.) to crop the portion of the world that the photographer wants to save away from the portion of the world that he/she doesn't want to save.

Then the creative process continues with the originator of the image post-processing that image until it becomes something like the original scene or, on the other hand, until it becomes what the photographer envisions.

I personally would not generally hand over my images to another person to post process and certainly don't want an inanimate object (the camera) to post process what I shoot.

That is why, I always shoot in RAW and almost never display images SOOC. They are to me only half-way in the creative process. However, if it rings someones chimes to have "fun" with images SOOC, who am I to criticize another photographers fun. After all, except for the folks making a living with their camera, photography is all about the fun involved...

    Like I said in post1

It's just fun, nothing too serious and I ALWAYS shoot raw, and the images I care about, I always PP from raw

The fun is that I think sometimes we forget, the camera makes jpegs too!
