Hello,

I've recently gotten into analogue photography again and this time I am developing and scanning my negatives. It's been a bit of a learning curve and fraught with frustration! Anyway, here is a picture from my first roll of film I developed and scanned.

Taken on an Olympus 35sp Rangefinder Kodak Tri-X 400 film Developed in Tetonal and scanned using a Plustek 8200i and Vuescan.

Classic black-and-white film image with excellent composition. Grain is not a bad thing, it's part of the charm, in my eyes, maybe because I grew up with film and for decades developed, processed and printed my own.

wonderful image! I realize that I have a strong left to right bias--probably based on left to right reading. I was interested in how the image changed for me when I flipped it horizontally. For me, the original has the horse seeming to move out of the frame while flipping it makes me feel the horse is considering moving into the frame. Interesting how our prior training affects our perception. Wonder how someone without the left to right bias sees this one? In any case, the photo is superb!

I grew up with film but a more sanitised, glossy drug store developed version. For me this is all new.

The horse is looking to the left, which makes me feel very comfortable with the negative space on the left.

Yes...different perception. Thanks to Judy...I had explained it a long time ago, even in design, the tallest should be from the left side, same with this image. Good illustration.
