Young Love (Candid) C&C welcomed

My niece was home from college for Christmas and asked if I would photograph her/her boyfriend. To say I was a bit nervous would be an understatement. The last time I photographed her was over the summer and it did not go well. I said yes, and made sure I fixed what I felt the issues were with the summer session. This past weekend we headed to the beach ~ we got really lucky with the weather as it was supposed to rain and be chilly -- instead it was partly cloudy and 50 degrees!

This time was a success (she loved every image) and this was my personal favorite - as many of you know, I prefer candids to posed although I did both of them.

I like they way they are in step with each other.

Good light, exposure and white balance too.

Also; viewed large, the background is very nice - that's some house at the right.

I love this shot. I probably would not have composed it with the couple at image left but, it works extremely well and probably better than how I would have composed it. It is a fine environmental portrait!

Thank you Paul. I was pleased with the set...but I always want to be better! I like capturing those special moments, but it's hard to get people comfortable with just hanging out with you -- they feel they need to "do something different".

Thank you for your comments Dave. It was shot in Watch Hill, Rhode Island - it's just a lovely place! The large yellow house is being totally redone and it's a very high end hotel now.

Hi Richard. Thank you for your comment, I am confused by something. What do you mean, that you would have composed couple on image left? I am confused as they are on the left? I like to visualize comments such as yours, so that's why I am seeking clarification. :-)

I have to admit Donald, when I saw this image, it made me tear up (and it still does) ... for the very reason you stated. I'm glad it's visible to others.
