I guess this fits the "street" category. I noticed this pole at an intersection and made a quick shot. Over the years hundreds, if not thousands, of posters and notices have been nailed, stapled, screwed, and tied to the pole hoping to attract the public's attention. C & C always.

It fits SP, at least to me it does; even if not shown there is a human element to the capture. Nicely seen and captured.

    Dean,

I agree with John. I consider it an interesting piece of SP and history.
Makes you wonder what was posted there, by whom, and for what reason.
    Looks a bit charred.

Thank you, John and Sergio for your comments. Sergio, the charring is some form of tar.

The black is likely creosote, a commonly used wood preservative and it is generally a coal tar distillate. If that isn't enough, the darn thing looks like it has a bad case of metal poisoning. I seem to remember seeing a lot of this in the past, so your shot brings back memories.

These wooden poles are becoming less common in the area where I live and concrete poles seem to be more common, although one can still see them in some of the older parts of the city.

Interesting find, Dean...I would just probably look at this pole without thinking, without taking a shot at it. Things I learn just by looking at this shot and others...
