Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hello, this is Nabanita from India. Photography is my hobby & my favorite pass time, and I've joined a 6days course to learn the basics. I had been clicking shutter using a Sony digital camera for two years. Now I've bought a Canon EOS 1200D. Its nice to play with the camera and create images rather than clicking whatever and however an object or scene is. :)
I like taking candid shots, macro, portraits and I'm really fascinated by light painting. Its an amazing thing what shutter speed can do.
One of our tutors in the photography course had suggested us to visit the CiC website and here I am to learn additional techniques. Hope to gather lots of knowledge here.

:) Hi! Glad to meet you all...My name is Mary and I live in Bixby Oklahoma USA. Suburb just south of Tulsa. Back in 2000 I started snapping pictures with my husband's Sony point & shoot to get pictures of him playing the drums with his band and others. Not long after, everyone was amazed with the images I was creating, and the compliments just kept coming. My husband knew I was good at this, so he encouraged me to get a bigger and better camera. Well.... I had always wanted a Nikon...so, I bought the Nikon D90 because of it's basic features and capabilities and have been learning photography ever since. I find that the more you read, listen to, and learn...the more there is to know.. I am forever grateful for my husband's encouragement and for all my friends and family who keep me encouraged! My new mantra is: "To appreciate and be appreciated. Such is the work and the rewards of the photographer."[/FONT]

Hello, this is Nabanita from India
We have quite a few members from India, but I don't recall one from West Bengal, so an especial welcome.
I'm glad your tutor directed you here - this is a friendly and supportive place to learn and share experiences. If you haven't already, have a look at the tutorials here, which are very good.
The best way to gather further knowledge is to post examples of your work and ask for feedback - it is always constructive, here. Don't be afraid to offer your opinions either - we all have something to learn from each other.
Best regards,
Dave

Hi Mary, I think you introduced yourself a little while ago, but now we know a lot more about you! Look forward to hearing more from you, and seeing some of your images.
Just one thing, we try to refrain from commenting on images in the competitions till they have closed, to avoid influencing others. Apart from that, please post away.
Best regards,
Dave

Hello Ed, and a very warm welcome. As you are just starting out, you have a very enjoyable journey in front of you (at least, I hope so). There many members here who are just starting out, but there are many others who have a lot of expertise that they are happy to share (and also remember what it was like when they were starting out!)
If you haven't found them yet, I strongly recommend you read some of the tutorials - they are widely recognised as being some of the best on the net.
This is a friendly place, and it would also be good if you could update your profile with whereabouts in the world you are (can be important if you are asking for recommendations), and that your real name is "Ed", that way they will appear alongside all your posts.
Look forward to hearing more from you,
Dave

Hello,
I am Evgeny from Moscow, Russia, an Oly user and a long-time reader of this fantastic resource.
To my experience, this web site is definitely one of the most useful photography resources available for free - thanks a lot to all the creators for the job done. I am now learning lighting and - as usual - am very impressed by the non-nonsense style of the tutorials and lessons.
Please continue!
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Evgeny, and a warm welcome. Glad that you have decided to sign up.
I hope to hear more from you in the forums, and see some of your images - I don't think we have many members from Russia.
Best regards,
Dave

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everyone, my name is Ernie. I have had an interest in photography for years. I had a Canon SLR film camera years ago. I bought a Canon Powershot to replace it after it was stolen. The Powershot was my first digital camera and I loved not having to have the prints developed! I’ve since replaced the Powershot with a Canon 600d. I love the 600d, but I am not very good at using it.
I enjoy all kinds of photography and I’m looking forward to participating in the discussions and learning a new skill.

Hello Mark and welcome, glad you have decided to join us. Having a look around might help you to decide, and there are certainly folks who here who can offer advice an encouragement on any topic. Since you seem fairly new to the hobby, and if you haven't already, do check out the tutorials here - they are reckoned to be some of the best on the net.
It would be good if you could add your name and location to your profile, so that they appear alongside every post. It makes it all the more friendly. Hope to be seeing you around the forums,
Dave

Hi everyone, my name is Ernie.
Hello Ernie, and a warm welcome to CiC.
That's two 600D shooters in a row, and it is also my dslr, so you are in good company :)
This place is all about learning and sharing, so if that is what you are looking for, you have come to the right place. We have a rule that there are no dumb questions, so whatever you want to know, ask away (I can't absolutely guarantee that there won't be any dumb answers, but if there are the members will soon sort that out). As I just suggested to Mark, do check out the tutorials, too.
Could you also add your "real" name to your profile, we are all on first name terms here and otherwise we'll only know from your introduction.
Best regards,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi. My lovely husband bought me a Nikon D3200 for Christmas but I've only just got out of 'Auto' mode having recently attended a half day photography course. Having learnt the basics of shooting in Aperture mode I now have more confidence and inspiration to start achieving better photos. Currently, my main subject is the cat, predominantly because the rest of the family have got a bit bored of me keep harassing them with camera, whereas the cat seems to quite like the attention! Your website seems like it will be an excellent source of information and inspiration.

Hi to all of you:
I'm Ignacio Cruzat from Chile
I am a 71 years old retired Electrical Engineer
My hobby (for about 35 years) is photography.
Initially, was mainly family portraiture; currently, landscapes and some macro work.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I'm a 73 yr. old novice keen to learn several aspects of photography. I'm interested in people and landscapes primarily. This is my first time as part of a forum of any ilk, so it's going to take me a while to relax about it all.
I have a Canon EOS 550D, it came with a 18-55mm zoom lens.
I have since bought a Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 and a Tamron 70-300mm F4-5.6
I had bought a variable ND filter to fit the 17-50 lens and was having trouble with quite uneven exposure across my images, particularly at the wider angle and stronger density. While searching for answers I found this web site, Cambridge In Colour, boy am I glad about that.
Peace & Love Greg

Hi, If I know my cats yours will very quickly become bored as well. Time to look for other subjects to photograph. Have fun.

Hola, Ignacio, y bienvenido en CiC.
You are our second new member from Chile this week! It sounds as if you have a lot of experience to contribute, so I look forward to hearing much more from you.
Some years ago, I had the good fortune to visit your beautiful country. We saw both the Atacama and Torres del Paine, so I do hope that you will be able to share some images.
Best regards,
Dave

Hi Greg, and a warm welcome to our community. We are all learning here, in fact that is what CiC is all about, so you are in the right place. If you are a newcomer to digital photography, do have a look at the tutorials here, the really are very good (at least, they helped me!)
You have some decent kit (I also use the long Tamron for wildlife shooting), so no excuses!
Seriously, one area that you don't mention is post processing, pp, - working on the images in a computer after you have taken them. Nothing can replace the basic photography skills, but pp is one route to changing a good image into a great one.
Hope to be hearing more from you,
Dave

Hello Paul and welcome to this forum. Thank you for deciding to join.
Trees, bushes .... and walls, form an awful lot of the subject material in my landscape photography, so I should feel at home if I was in your part of the world!
I hope you enjoy being part of the CiC forum and find it a useful aid to learning.
