Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi there, I have been a photographer for around 25 years. I am constantly attempting different branches of photography including macro, infrared and most recently investigating bird/wildlife photography (I am looking to purchase a telephoto lens). I use a Nikon D7200.
I am looking forward to being part of this community.
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Welcome aboard from another Nikon shooter. Try putting up your images and questions on the Nature and Architecture forum. Let us know what you are trying to shoot and you will find a lot of help.'
Where are you located? That can be entered in your profile. No need to be too specific but it helps when discussing flora and fauna.

Hi Lindsey,
Pleased to have you on board (though it looks like you "joined" a long time ago!). Please do jump in and start posting - we are a pretty friendly bunch here. Could you add "Lindsey" and "Abernathy, Tx" to your profile. If this is the only place we know them they will soon get lost.
Regards,
Dave

Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hello,
My name is Frie Kil, my age is 67 and I live in the Netherlands. I started making photographs in 1976 when I bought my first real camera, a Pentax SP1000. Almost all the pictures I made (a lot!) were black and white, for which I did the processing all by myself. From the moment that my children grew up, I usually used colour film, but it didn't give me the satisfaction of b&w, because I didn't have the time for processing by myself any more.
Now that I am retired I started again, but this time with a Canon Eos 600D, given to me on my birthday. Being digital I had a lot to learn and this website helped me fantastically in solving a lot of problems and questions.
Right now I am experimenting with a (40 yrs) old Takumar lens (28mm/f3.5) that I used on my Pentax and I am very pleased with it.
At this moment my photographs are mainly from the woods in my neighbourhood on my daily walks with my dog.

Hi Charlie, and welcome to CiC. There are a fair few bird and wildlife photographers here, so it will be good to share ideas and techniques (African wildlife is my particular passion). Well done for entering the competition. Nice shot - hooded merganser? Hope to see and hear more from you.

Hi Brett,
Pleased you have decided to join up. Yes, we are a friendly bunch and this is a great place for learning and sharing - it's really what we are all about. So post a picture in one of the forums, and for C&C (it helps if you have an idea what you are looking for, but not essential) and I can guarantee you will get responses. Courses are good, but practice and feedback is what we all need.
Regards,
Dave

Hi bearcatgene,
Welcome to CIC! I'm really new here too.
Your 70-300 lens seems like a great choice for getting close to wildlife. If you are new to photography "program" or "auto" (P or A) are a good place to start (I'm not a Canon guy so I don't know if those are Canon symbols on your camera).
If your camera has a knob that you can use to select an image that looks like a person running that would be a good mode to capture fast moving animals in nature.
