Hi, I am Kathe, living in Denmark.
I use my camera as a valuable tool for taking notes, documentation and presentation of the many forms of art and craft I work with. Mainly studioshots of small items, and close up nature, reference shots for botanical art.
Being on a budget I like to make additional equipment, lights, reflectors etc. Would love to share tips and tricks with like minded people.

Hi, Mark here, live in south Wales UK, main area of interest is macro insect and plants, just changed my kit from Pentax to Nikon, due to youngest daughter doing uni degree in marine and natural history photography she needed a camera and the uni supports Canon and Nikon, so got her a Nikon and one for myself so we can interchange lenses between us to reduce cost !
Been doing photography for many years on and off - first camera was a Zenith E - moved to Pentax film then Digital and now Nikon

You do not say where you are. If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello CIC and fellow photographers,
I am from the north-western part of South Africa in an area called the Bushveld because of the abundance of trees and bushes.
The tutorials here at CIC seems to be quite comprehensive and I can't wait to work through them - thank you to those who gave of their time to put it together.

Hello. I am a new member. I am looking to buy a beginner camera like a nikon dlsr or canon so I can start to take shots of basketball players and baseball ⚾ players. This way I might be able to make some money also.
Does anyone have some advice on what camera would be great for me to start with

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

As for your question, I suggest you go into the Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum and ask people for advice and suggestions.

That's nice to read. I hope that CiC does work for you David and that you find it a helpful resource.

You'll find people with a whole range of knowledge and experience on here, with many of them being very willing to share so that we can all learn from it. CiC is that sort of forum.

Something you might find useful. Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.

Hi, I'm Marion, I'm french but currently live in the Silicon Valley :).
I'm a beginner and found Cambridge in Colour while looking for tutorials. It's been a short time that I'm trying to get free of auto mode and have started studying for real two weeks ago, beginning by my camera manual and introduction to photography books :) (Complete Digital Photography by Ben Long is on its way to me, can't wait to get started :) ).
I'm interested in every aspect of photography, my favorite subjects being children (ok more exactly my toddler son :D, I don't share my photos of him online though) and toys. I'm fascinated by night photography so I hope to try this as soon as I can :). Studio photography for fashion is one of my big interests too.

Since you found us looking for tutorials, I expect that you will have read the tutorials here, but just in case you haven't you really must.

There are some very good photographers here, and they are always ready to share their knowledge and help out those of us who sometimes need it (which is most of us :) ), so if you have questions don't be afraid to put them in the forums. Asking for opinions on your images is a good way to learn, too, we are a kind and constructive bunch here..

And congratulations on putting an image in a competition!

You might like to amend your profile so that we will know where you are in the world when you post. Apart from being friendly, it can be useful when folks are asking for advice.

Thanks so much for your warm welcome and your very helpful advises ! I'm in the process of reading the tutorials, for sure, and I feel very impressed and grateful realizing expert photographers offer of their time to help !
Sorry for not updating my profile before, I should have made things in the right order, it has been a little chaotic as I've just followed some links from the automatic emails when I had a few minutes and have to let things unachieved until now :).

Good morning...Tom here from Houston Texas. Been actively shooting pictures for 6 years and fortunate enough to travel around the world giving me plenty of subject matter.
