Hello Todd and welcome to the CiC forum.
As you've probably already read, CiC was established as as learning resource with the intention that people on the forum will always be willing to share knowledge and experience so that we can learn and improve from each other. I hope you enjoy being involved.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi,
My name is Sandra, I come from Melbourne, Australia. I have just purchased a "Olympus stylus 1" which I use in conjunction with my "Samsung Galaxy Note II" phone depending on the situation. In the past I had a small lumix camera which died about a year ago. I found out about this site in a free "The Art of Photography (Photo)" course hosted by RMIT via an Open 2 Study course. I use my photography to enhance articles that I write for an online website and to enhance my story telling in the scrapbooks which I create for family and family history.
I have found that I am really enjoying taking photos but am struggling with technique (and time) and am looking forward to learning more. I will going overseas soon and I am hoping that I can learn how to use my camera a bit better so that I capture some great shots.
In the meantime there are plenty of things to take photos of!

The good thing about this forum, Caryn, is that even the most experienced people (especially them) remember that they were once inexperienced beginners looking for help and advice. So this is a place for sharing, not holding on to secrets and trying to seem clever. Such people don't last too long on this forum.
You don't say where you are. If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
I hope we'll see some underwater shots posted.

Happy Pixels to everyone.
Sandy from Arizona here, Started in photography around 1967, professional work from the 70's until ? I don't do much pro work any more (commercial/industrial) but somehow I still have this photo sickness imbedded in me, so the fun just never stops.
In the film days I worked with large and medium formats, medium mostly (Hasselblad) Now that the digital world has taken over
I switched from Nikon to Canon, it was a tough decision but at the time Nikon was asleep at the wheel.
Loads of info at CIC looking forward to more good things. Thanks.

Sandy - It's a pleasure to welcome you onto the CiC forum. I hope you've seen enough of the website to get the idea of what CiC is all about. And I hope that you will let all that knowledge and experience be shared so that others can learn from you as well as, hopefully, you picking up a few ideas along the way.
If you wish to be addressed as Sandy, you you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

I'm Keshan! A software enginner in profession. A photography aspirant and a freelance Indian Photographer. Photography, in my words would be 'a bunch of good experiences'. You click, you fall, you flunk, you succeed, you get disappointed, get surprised, feel awe-full, feel heaven, feel hell, toil yourself, enjoy yourself and at the very end, you feel a photographer in you. I don't restrict myself to one specific type of photography. I click photos during travels, events, occasions and capture beautiful and memorable moments. Apart from photography, I spend time in film making, acting and into fitness. :)

That's a pretty good description of the learning curve!
Welcome, Keshan. It's great to have you on here as a member of the CiC forum. I hope you enjoy it and find it a helpful resource.

Hi, my name is Roland Harrison and I've visited the website several times but I still haven't worked out how to post a message or photograph. The only way I can find is to reply to an existing thread. Is this correct? If so, and if I am looking for some C&C, which thread should I use. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Roland and welcome to the forum.
If you go back to the very first post in this thread (not just on this page), you'll see that Dave provided a lot of links, one of which is about posting images. As for beginning a thread fro which you want some C & C, go to either the Nature & Architecture or People and Pets sections of the forum. When you see a list of all the recent posts in those sections, look above that on the left hand side. You'll see a shaded tab that say's something like 'Post new thread'. Hit that and away you go.
You don't say where you are. If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
