Indeed they have Nikki. I bought a Canon 40D a few years ago and once I took delivery I worked out that you needed something called a memory card on which to record the data. So I had the camera for about 10 days before I could get to somewhere to but the d... thing. Oh well, we all have to start our learning somewhere.
One of the good things about this forum is that the people with knowledge and skill and a willingness to share it, don't forget that they were once just beginners as well.
There are a few of us 'returners' on here, so I hope you feel at home.

Thanks a lot my friend Donald.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello from a new member. I'm not a proper photographer, and don't have a swish camera, but love my Lumix super-zoom bridge, FZ62. I took a photo recently which has come outwith diagonal stripes on it. I've discovered 'lens flare' on the web, and wonder if this is it. Any enlightenment would be welcome

Hello, it's me again. I thought I'd uploaded the picture concerned but I can't see it, so I'm going to try again!
This is the reference anyway: http://i62.tinypic.com/2ep3ojl.jpg

Hello Josquine! Welcome to the forums! I'd suggest you post your question with this image in one of the "regular" forums, maybe the Nature forum; as perhaps many members don't read the New Member thread as often.
I for one, have no idea what is causing this problem, sorry. :(
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Apologies, have just read that I shouldn't have posted for comment here. Will start again!
Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
New member here, although I've been an off-and-on again lurker at CiC for several years. Did photography a bit all those years ago in college (late 70s, early 80s), then bought a DSLR in 2007. Shot for a few years and ran out of time. Would like to get back into it (still have the same old DSLR), although I'm having to resurrect photographic knowledge for the second time now. Each time, I'm surprised at what I remember, what I've forgotten and what I learn anew. I've always been very impressed with CiC, though.

Welcome. And thank you for those comments. Now that you've made the leap from lurker to active member of the forum, I hope the experience becomes even better ... and more useful.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Done - Thanks. I usually do all that, but I signed up while I was only briefly at home during my lunch hour today. :)

Hello I'm Tom from Brisbane Aust. Have been interested in photography for many years. Purchased my first DSLR (Nikon D3100) last year and busy learning to use it. My interests are mainly nature and macro. I am interested in a Nikon 40mm.2.8 lens to combine a prime and macro lens. Does anyone have this lens and if so what do you think of it. Looking forward to learning from this forum. Enclosed image of a mushroom taken at Maleny .

Tom - Hello and welcome. Great to have you here.
As for your particular question - I'd suggest that you go to the Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum and, once there, click on the '+ Post New Thread' shaded button near the top left. That allows you to post up a new thread in which you can ask your question. More folks that are likely to be able to give you an opinion will see it there than buried in this thread.
I also notice you refer to attaching an image. I didn't see it in your post. So, on that particular point, please do read the helpful guide that walks you through how embed images in your posts. Click HERE to read the thread.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I just bought a Nikon D5200 that came with 18mm-55mm lens. I'm looking to buy a used Sigma 70-300 1:4-5.6 DL Macro and wondering what converter would work with the camera and lens. I'm new to this all so any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

As to your question, you'd be better going into the Digital Cameras & Equipment section of the forum. More people likely to be able to answer, will see it there. Go to that particular section - If necessary, use the 'Forum' tab on the toolbar towards the top of the page. When you are in that section of the forum, you will see a shaded box towards the top left of the window - '+ Post New Thread'.
Click on that shaded box and a new window will open. Enter the title of your thread, type in your text and then hit 'Submit New Thread' at the bottom right of that window.
If this is not clear, then please do come back to me.
But when you are posting, it would help if you told people why you are wanting that lens and a converter. That will help people frame a reply.
