Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi people I was recommended this forum after posting a question about how I could have improved on an image I had taken.
Very new to DSLR cameras and currently have a Canon EOS 350D with a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5 IS lens and I also have a EF-S 55-250mm zoom lens and 58mm 0.45x Wide Angle & Macro HD Conversion Lens . The last one I am not really sure of it's purpose.
Hoping to learn how to take reasonable photos in all circumstances but not to become to OTT about it.
At the moment the terminology is quite confusing as I am sure you will note when I post my newbie questions.
Names Glenn by the way. Cheers.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Welcome Glenn, I've not been here that long myself but it's a friendly place and I've learnt quite a few new things already that I've put into practice and have helped my photography.
cheers, Mike.
umbra to some ;)

Hi, I'm Christiana and live in Queensland, Australia. I have fallen in love with photography and want to learn more. I find the technical side of things challenging but am willing to have a go. I'm still struggling to move to manual, but when I have the time and patience I experiment...not always learning the lesson though. I guess it takes time. There are times when I come home and find a photo on my screen and wonder how did I do that, and how do I repeat that??? I love nature, it inspires me greatly. Thanks for this forum, it feel honest and sincere. Cheers

Hello Everyone,
I am Erik and I just recently started down the Photography path with a Nikon D5300 DSLR and 18-140mm Kit Lens. I am currently taking a course from PPSOP and really enjoying learning about the creative and technical side of Photograpny. I have been a lurker on the site for sometime, using the forums and tutorials. I figured it was about time to come clean :).
I look forward to the open and honest support from this site and helping to contribute as well.

All of the things that every other person on here (whether they admit it or not) experienced as they started out on the learning curve. I hope what you'll find on here is the advice and support to help you through all those moment (and there will be many) when you wonder why you ever started trying to learn this stupid hobby. That's the time to shout out with questions.
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hello everyone,
I am very glad to become a member. I am actually a struggling oil painter and I primarily use photos as my source of reference materials. And as they say in this business, the painting is only going to be as good as the RM. So I am, really
looking forward the taking some decent, if not great photos. I currently own a NK SLR 3000 that's mounted with a 70-300mm
lens.

For whatever reason you take pictures, you are very welcome to be part of this forum. I hope you find it useful.
Please excuse my ignorance, but I am unclear as to whether Lorenzo is the name by which you would like to be addressed on the forum. If it is not, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hi,
This is Farmoz from Gurgaon, India.
I am new to photography. Feeling excited about it.
Placed an order for Canon 1200D with 18-55mm and 55-250mm lens. Friends advised me to get Hoya UV filter and a 58mm circular polarizer filter. Expecting the delivery by tomorrow.
Luckily found out this site while googling as I wanted to learn about photography and have my creative juices flowing. Looks like I am in the right place amongst lot of experienced people.
Hopefully soon I would have something to share and seek your guidance.

Hi! I am a soon to be 68 yr old vet who is currently living at the SORCC in White City, OR where I'm dealing with some PTSD issues. I did a 5 month trip through Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and finally ended up in the San Francisco area. I drove the 1/101 from Seattle to Half Moon Bay. I love to capture wildlife and birds, especially raptors, when I'm able. Due to some sight issues I have problems manually focusing on moving objects so I have been doing my 2nd love which is landscapes. I enjoy the hikes to get in the back areas, although not quite as quickly as in the past. :) I am currently struggling w/Lightroom 5 - It's a wonderful program but the initial organization has me in a quandary but I'll get there. Also, as I'm sure you can tell, I'm a bit verbose. So I'll stop here. Hope to learn new things and enjoy my fellow photographers creations. Was gonna post a shot but got the following err msg: Error 503 Service Unavailable

Hi there, and a warm welcome to our community. Sounds like you have had some great experiences, and look forward to seeing some of your images. No idea why you got the error. Have you checked out this thread?

There are lots of Lightroom users here (I'm one!) so if you have questions do ask in the forums.
See you around,
Dave

Hi all. Retired civil servant living in kingston ontario Canada. Love taking pics of anything really. Tend to do a lot of outdoors stuff. Bugs at the moment as it is the season. The members here seem very helpful in a non condescending way which is a change from another forum I frequent.

Welcome to CiC Paul, from someone who lives in the same general part of the world you do; I'm almost retired and not quite a civil servant. While I don't "do bugs", I do landscapes and other outdoor work as well. There are quite a few macro photographers who do some very nice insect shots. There are also a few other active members that live close to Lake Ontario. I've done a fair bit of diving on the shipwrecks in Lake Ontario around Kingston.
I'll do my best to not condescend... ;)
