Hi all, My Name is Kamran and i live in New Delhi.
I was using point and shoot for a quite long time but recently I could manage to get a Nikon D5200 and found the big realm of photography. Tutorials on CiC helped me a lot in learning basics of photography even how to handle a camera.
I'm sure I will learn a lot here and enjoy the art of photography.

My name is Carole. I have recently taken over the reins of running a local camera club. I started my interest in 'taking pictures'when my now two grown up daughters were small. Both give me that look when I get the camera out .. But both play the game and smile ☺ Just purchased my first D-slr ..until now its being a point and shoot SLR ..very much hoping to learn a lot from the tips and tutorials here.

new to the site and found it while searching a question out ,
so im rob , 46 from north devon , im a beginner photographer , kit i have is a canon eos 550d plus a few lens , filters , plus flash unit and wireless triggers will update my profile with a propper list lol , im needing some info so will have a look at which area i need to ask it in but plenty more questions im sure to add lol

Hi,I am Jim Bianco. I like working with wood.I got on this forum to learn something about photography.I am new to this hobby and want to learn more.I just retired and need something to keep me busy.I live in AZ. and the views are spectacular.I love hiking and the outdoors.

Hello, I am Guido. I currently live in Edinburgh and recently started taking photography a bit more seriously. I followed a little course and can now shoot in fully manual mode :) I still do not know what interests me most, at the moment I like portraits, landscape, wildlife - pretty much everything.

Hi. I am returning to photography as a hobby/avocation after a 25 year absence. [Thank heaven for today's digital!!] I was directed to this site by my university photography instructor and I hope to produce ever improving photos as time goes on.

Hey, Guido. Great to have another Scots-based member. I'm just 40 minutes up the M90 from you.

Wello done for shooting in full manual. I always think it's a good grounding. Once you can do that, then you can start using things like Aperture Priority and Shutter Priority. As for interests - Let them find you. You just keep shooting everything and one day you'll start realising what sort of things interest you more than others.

Hi,
I am looking for constructive critique of my photo's with the view of improving my techniques.
This first post is an experiment in close up photography with a black background using a hand held ring flash to get the effect I thought looked good.

I’m living in Holland, am Dutch citizen and am proud to be of Chinese-indonesian ancestry.

My photographer initiation @ 8 yr was a photo contest. Allowed to borrow my fathers camera, an Agfa Isolette II, I won the #1 grand prize, a Kodak instamatic type 104. (Winning was not the result of having shot THE masterpiece, but rather me being the only contestant)

A lab tech at fathers university taught me the traits of the business developing printing etc.. Those were the times chemicals were still flushed through the toilet…! Many years later I did a formal education on the “school of photography” (Fotovakschool) that has turned out several successful Dutch photographers.

As It happened, I have worked some years as a part time photographer, augmenting my base salary. In time, primary jobs, getting married an having kids let me reset priorities and forced photography to the background, until the digital era emerged.

Many of my old Nikon lenses I still use today; 16mm, 20mm and the famous 105mm still have their use. Of course F2’s and F3’s have been replaced by its current FF counterparts, the old darkroom by Photoshop and various plug-ins…. The origin has remained; seeing the composition, pre see-ing THE moment, the inevitable darkroom work and the ultimate satisfaction of THE picture..!

My preferences are nature an people; Both my wife and me visit places in Holland where game may wander freely; “the hooge veluwe”is one of our favourites. We have spent the last five years roaming the forests, were tought to read wildlife tracks by foresters and have spotted the Dutch “big five” in multiple occasions. We both also enjoy the photography of fantasy role playing- LARP. (we do not play, but the camera work is rewarding! See: www.kidslarp.nl)

To us photography is a great deal of planning, and of course, some luck! If you’re not in the right spot @ the right time, we’ll not find any game…. So before the camera does “click”, I usually have the picture made in my head!

I am learning to use the manual settings on my Canon 70D and am looking to improve my photos. Photography is fun because it combines my love of wandering and exploring with an artistic record of daily adventures.
