Re: NEW MEMBER? Please Introduce Yourself Here
Hi,
Ed B. from Chattanooga and I am an enthusiast of photography. Point and shoot captures of Pelicans was frustrating so the Mrs got me a Canon T2i three years ago which lead me to the 5D Mark III. Haven't found a niche yet so am all over the place ranging from landscape to macro. Portraits are my least favorite. Looking forward to learning and this site appears to have some great teachers for me to learn from....

Ed - It's great to have you here. Welcome. That's a steep learning curve you took on there - from P & S to 5D, via a T2i. Good on you.
I think that thing about finding a niche can be overplayed at times. Just enjoy what you're doing and your niche will find you. I hope you enjoy being part of this forum and find it helpful.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Just stumbled across the site and it looked interesting. I'm a super busy Realtor in So. California so I likely won't be that engaged. Still trying to figure the site out and unsure if I'm even introducing myself in the correct place. I loved photography in high school and community college and when I was honorably discharged from the US Coast Guard in 1971, I attended community college waiting for an opening at Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara. Graduated with BPA in 1974 and did some commercial photography in Steamboat Springs for a winter. More commercial work in Ventura in 1976 and 1977 before becoming the photo teacher at Buena High School 1978 to 81. Real estate has been my career the past 27 years and I've re-engaged myself into the digital world in 2007. I use a Nikon D7100, Tokina 11-16 2.8, Nikkor 17-55 2.8, and Nikkor 85mm f1.4, plus all my older manual Nikon lenses from yesteryear. I shoot interiors for Realtors and enjoy rising before light chasing interesting scenes. Look forward to enjoying the site. Thanks, Phil

You are, Phil. No problem. Great to have you here. I'm glad you stumbled upon us and decided to sign up.
We look at this forum primarily as a learning resource and encourage everyone towards helping everyone else improve their photographic knowledge and skills. One of the cornerstones of that is that there is no such thing as a dumb question on CiC.
So, I hope as well as gaining from involvement, that you will share your obvious experience so that others can learn from you.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
First post as I've just joined. Been at this since the early 70's (Minolta SRT 101 back then). Currently have several Nikon DSLR's (D300, D7100 & an old D70s). Also have an Olypmus Pen E-P3 M43 camera with several adapters to be able to use my older Leica, Konica, Minolta, Yashica, Pentax & Helios MF lenses... In Nikkor & Nikon F mount, I have about 85 different MF & AF lenses. Really need to thin the herd as & have dups between AF & MF focal lengths/apertures....Main focus (pun intended) is macro (ergo the DX format cameras, but most of my lenses are FX) though I do shoot a bit of everything. Now retired from my day job but do an occasional shoot for some extra money... Do have a Flickr page if you want to see what I shoot...

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Greetings, all. New guy here, although membership in this forum is one of the few things new about me. Everything else has been 'round the bend a few times. It's been a terrific ride, though: a long career in aviation followed by another in photography. It would be hard to say which was best. Actually, combining flying and photography was a hoot. Now that the former consists entirely of memories, the latter continues to grow, thanks in part to the company of other pros and serious shooters. Even suffering the unending abuse associated with being the only Canon shooter in our two groups, we support each other like family. It seems like you folks do the same here, so I look forward to this new adventure and communicating with you for years to come.

Hi, I'm EricF,
I've shot for a number of years using a Canon. I'm drawn to landscapes and unique/interesting things I see. Mostly I do B&W, though when I travel I tend to use color. In the past I've come to this site a number of times to broaden my photographic knowledge. Now, I'm leaning towards the purchase of a smaller and lighter mirrors camera to carry with me on a daily basis.

Hello Scott ( I assume it's Scott) and welcome to the CiC forum. I hope you'll feel able to share all that knowledge and experience with others on here so that they can learn from you. That's very much the ethos of the site - that we learn from each other.
I do like your images of the covered bridges.
If you wish and to help others know what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.

There are times when it's just a case of everyone else being plain wrong!!!
Thank you for joining the forum and I hope all that knowledge and experience will be shared on here
