Guy - It is a pleasure to welcome you to this forum. I hope you will enjoy participating and that you will share your professional knowledge and experience with others so that they might learn from you.
If you wish, you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Hi: I'm Pete, in Colorado, USA. I like to take pictures of family, friends, and landscapes. I often use manual settings, watch my histogram, and edit in Photoshop Elements. I look forward to using your tutorials. http://i58.tinypic.com/2rcbdjo.jpg

Good afternoon all !
Tom here, I just learned about the site and look forward to reading through the forums.
I am an avid hobbyist that loves taking pictures of my kids/family and landscapes.
I do a lot of family shots for friends and I am contemplating trying to make a little $$ this year with word of mouth business.
Gald to be here

Hello and welcome to the forum.
I hope you want to join for reasons other than just to advertise your own images. If so, then I look forward to your involvement and to you sharing your knowledge and experience so that others can learn from you.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Good evening folks (well it is here in Australia!)
SLR user since 2006 - pbase details in profile. Currently run Pentax bodies with a range of primes and zooms. Interests are mainly outdoors, old rusty stuff, outdoors, old rusty stuff...
I've been looking at this site for guidance for some years (well before there was a forum!). It was one of my learning tools for photography principles, so very grateful.
Cheers all,

Hello,
New here and thought I'd say hello so, hello.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi! My name is Donna and I love taking photos of nature. Although I've taken a lot of pictures over the years, I came here to learn more about improving my style and seeing what others have accomplished.
I live in southeast Michigan, and right now it is way too cold for me and my camera to venture much outside. Yes, I'm a fair weather shooter.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Berg...I am an Aussie living in the US but I am now here in Melbourne visiting my children. I am glad that you found CiC. It is a very good learning community and fun too from time to time because we are all one big happy family. Every now and then there are serious talks about some topic that get heated up but still like a normal family, no one bears any grudges at all to one another. I have been to some other forums in my down time from photography but I always come here. I am one of the comedians here with my flat sense of Aussie humour and sometimes my tongue can be very straightforward but I kept being forgiven by many members here. I hope you make friends here too by posting your photos and commenting on other members; posts. That is how to make friends here because we can get to know you and you get to know us through our and your shots. It is also a good learning technique to see each other's images to learn how and why some sucks and some really comes out brilliant.
Welcome to CiC. As one member reminded me the other day when I asked the same thing of another new member -- your photography life will never be the same...
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello all. Looks like a very interesting forum. I am older, but growing with photography skills, hopefully. My favourite subjects are birds, garden, flowers, landscapes. I take pictures in the spring to fall seasons, as this is gardening season, then work at "post-production" in the winter while the snow and freezing weather keep me inside..I'll try to have coffee with you often.

Welcome to CiC, Manitoba. Let me guess where you might be from... ;)
We tend to be a pretty informal lot here at CiC and tend to go on a first name basis, so if you wouldn't mind putting that into your profile, that would be great. If you have any thoughts or questions, the members are quite knowledgeable and are more than willing to provide advice and feedback on the photography and post-production side of things.
Actually, you would be surprised by the great shooting one can do in the winter too, but I will have to admit, it takes a fair bit of will power and some preparation to do so. Frankly, the results can be quite stunning.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi all,
Have been browsing as a guest recently - lovely site.
Although I've owned a camera since 1955, starting with a Brownie Reflex, I've never mastered photography - just the usual mix of home and holiday pics.
Last year I bought a Fuji Finepix SL300 bridge camera, but still lack "inspiration". :(
FWIW I'm a Linux user, so no Photoshop for me, just GIMP.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I am probably barely a novice photographer - when I had 2500 photos on my iPhone, I figured it was time to get a "real" camera! About a year ago, I purchased a Canon Rebel T3i with the stock 18-55mm lens. Just now looking to upgrade to an 18-135mm - found this website, read some good info - will try not to spend all day reading tutorials!! I think I love this website !!
