New member posts: April 2014 to June 2020

Hi, I am Ian and live in the North West of Melbourne Australia. I started out with a Brownie Box at round 10. I remember being fascinated to watch images appear on paper as my father developed contact prints from his old camera I got my first film SLR in the early seventies and dabbled in B & W and Colour slide film processing. After retiring about 5 years ago I did some basic courses in knowing your camera and digital processing. I now like to think that I am a proficient amateur. I enjoy capturing images that reflect the essence of trips inside and outside of Australia that I have been fortunate enough to have taken. I am always happy to accept constructive criticism that helps me to improve.

Hello from sunny Wigan, Im a very keen amateur photographer, I have a Canon 70d with a sigma 18-250 lens and a canon 18-55.

I love doing water droplet collision photography but not done any for a wee while now. I love doing motor sports photography as well Ive done a fair few model shoots but find that a bit monotonous at times.

There are a few folk on here who produce amazing images with water drops and splashes, etc. Hopefully you'll be able to hook up with them.

Glad to read it's sunny in Wigan. It is here as well .... at last. I think spring is starting arrive up here in the north west corner of Europe.

So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Hi, my name is Annette. I am a relatively new comer to photography and am hooked! What an amazing hobby to have. I am not sure what my style is yet. I have a huge amount to learn and hope to widen my knowledge by joining CiC. I am a member of a local photographic society as well as a U3A group. I look forward to meeting other members and seeing and also sharing images.

Hello Annette and welcome to the CiC forum. This is very much a place for learning and one of the key rules is that there is no such thing as a dumb question on CiC. If you don't ask, you don't learn. And there are lots of people on here who will be very willing to share their knowledge and experience. Another of the things I like about this forum is that even the very knowledgeable and talented people don't forget that they were once at just the same place as you are now at on the learning curve.

As for 'your style', don't even go trying to look for it yet. Just get out there and shoot things and learn about composition and exposure. 'Your style' will find you in due course.

The members here range from beginners to advanced and are quite willing to help others.

I suggest you start going through the tutorials and start taking pictures, and posting them if you have any technical or compositional questions.

I have been photographing since I was 14 years of age.
I had my own darkroom with enlarger for some time.
I no longer have those, I am using digital now.
