Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I'm BrianP1945, Hi to all @ Cambridge in Color and thank you for having me as a member of your group. I have had an interest in Photography for many years, started off with a Kodak Brownie when I was about 10. Greater maturity brought me to Praktika, then Pentax SLR's. Digital arrived with a Nikon Coolpix 5700 then a Pentax K10D. Main interests general outdoor photography, Astronomical Photography, combining Photography and Art (paint etc.) and generally just doing something different and non-derivative. Main problem: getting myself organised and energised to realise a head full of ideas!!!

Hi my name is Jerry and I am from Pittsburgh, Pa. I took up photography as a hobby in 2012. I have found it to be way more interesting than I first thought it would be. I enjoy taking pictures of the city I live in and going to the parks and taking scenery pictures. I am looking forward to getting tips on photography from this site and am happy to be here on this site.

Hello to everyone @ Cambridge in Colour and thank you for having me as a member of your group. My name is Zizo and I live in Qatar, I have had an interest in Photography for many years, I'm not a professional but more than a point and shoot person. I'm happy to take portraits of family and friends; I’m using Nikon D7100 with 18-140mm lens and I’m here to learn more about photography.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi All,
My name is Pam and I live in Northamptonshire, England but would ideally love to live by the coast somewhere as I love taking photos of sunsets over water mostly, but I am going to try and bite the bullet and do a bit of street photography if I can get passed the shyness of using my camera around everyday people haha. I do tend to visit Norfolk a few times a year.
I have found since taking up the hobby properly you really get to notice the detail around you and see things that you never noticed before.
At the moment I am just a point and shoot as I am just starting out with photography, I just have a bridge camera for now, Panasonic FZ150.
I came here through a link to a tutorial and really hoping I can learn loads from you guys.
Please feel free to C&C my pics when I put them up, any tips to make them better will be much appreciated.
Please have a look at my facebook page and like if you get a chance :) Pam's Captured Moments

Hi Jerry, and a warm welcome to our community. You'd probably guess that most of us here find photography interesting :) There's a very wide range of expertise, and a very helpful bunch who are happy to share because learning is what we are all about.
Hope to see you around the forums, and to see some images of Pittsburgh (the nearest I ever got was the hill overlooking three rivers stadium).
It would be good if you added Jerry and Pittsburgh to you profile - it's nice to know where people are in the world when they post.
Dave

Dave

Hello Zizo, and a very warm welcome to Cambridge in Colour. I think a lot of us fall into that category between professional and point and shoot, but the most important hing is that we are all here to learn and share. Since that is what you want - you have come to the right place.
Look forward to hearing more from you,
Dave

Hello Pam, and a warm welcome. I think you are living near the wrong coast if you want sunsets over water - better head on over here :) I had a quick look at your Facebook page, and I think you are better than a point and shoot because I think you have a good eye for a photograph and composition, and that is far more important than the camera you currently have (which will certainly serve you well enough, at least for a while).
Learning and sharing is what we are all about, so you have come to the right place. Look forward to seeing some pictures, and I can promise that you will get some constructive C&C here.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here

Hi
My name is Gene Davila I have been remiss in formally joining the group because I am quite busy in my day job and not very motivated to to use this form of communication. I have, in the past, been a professional photographer but eventually moved from that field to the field of psychotherapy. I have been upgrading my photographic knowledge base to include an understanding of digital photography and processing via software on the computer. I recently set up a website called leftcoastcaliphotography.com which has some of my images displayed and a brief bio of myself. I am interested in connecting with other photographers regarding expanding access to my art beyond my friends and family and to talk about photography. I currently live and work in Orange County CA and can easily be reached at gene@laurelmdavilacpa.com or gdavila@ochca.com.

Hello Gene, I am pleased you have finally decided to join, and you are very welcome. From your intro, and a quick look at your web site, it seems that the art of photography is where your interests lie. I am sure you will find many here who share that interest, and I look forward to seeing and hearing more from you.
Most of us here use the private messaging (pm) system to communicate with other members, it stops any spammers or trolls getting hold of our contact detais.

Well, Claire, the one thing you've successfully done so far is managed to post an image into the forum. So, you know what you're doing in that respect. Some folk struggle to crack that one.
Great to have you here. Thanks for joining. I hope you enjoy it and find it helpful. The aim of this online resource is to help people be as good as they want to be at photography. You're the one who decides how much knowledge you want. The rest of us are the ones who can help you acquire it.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Donald
Thanks for that. I've updated my profile so now people can see my real name. I'll be honest I'm interested in knowing everything there is to know and getting to know people on here with similar interests.
Thanks for your help and I'll see you on the other forums.
Claire
