Hello Jonathan. Thank you for joining this forum. Your study is obviously in a very specialist aspect of photography. I hope your involvement in this forum will allow you to also explore many other aspects an d help you improve your general photographic ability.
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.

Well, I hope people on here can help to get you towards that goal, which is the one that we all aspire to. There are two parts to making great pictures - There's the technical; knowledge and skill and then there's the vision, aesthetic creativity that you develop that allows you to see and create the great image. Developing both will put you in the right place to be able to achieve what you want.
Mike - Great to have you on board. By the way, if you prefer top be addressed as Mike, then you can change your 'Real Name' in your profile.
We have a couple of ex US military guys here on the forum.
I hope you enjoy being part of this forum and find it enjoyable and well as useful.

Hello, Cambridge in Colour.
I have just been reading about ND Filters and photo stacking here on this site which I found very helpful so I decided to join. I'll have to spend some time looking through the forum before I post anything further.
I do love photography, this love has grown as I get older. I find the process both exhilarating and meditative. I have a website, but there is nothing there at the moment as I am in the process of restructuring it.
I am a new member. Not a professional photographer but have been taking photo's for over 40 years when my grandfather got me started. I have a Canon Rebel XS - great camera for a novice but there are times I have questions and this sight seems like there are alot of helpful people that most definitely know more then me. I'm looking forward to asking questions and learning more from all of you.
Hello, Colleagues,
I am Judy, a retired nurse and nursing dean. I started taking photos when my first baby was born, and have been doing it as much as time permitted throughout my career. Now that I'm retired, I have lots of time to devote to learning and perfecting my skills. Unfortunately, being retired means not being able to buy new equipment! I love to photograph natural attractions, wildlife, pets, landscapes, flowers, and young families and children. I look forward to hearing what other members think of my work.
Hello Judy
welcome aboard and let us see some of your pictures - your cat avatar is promising.
Erwin

Hi, I'm Evan Liu and I am a research assistant in a university! I find a lot of useful information of optics on this website and I want to be more active so I could learn more! Thanks.
Hi,
My name is Diego. Photography is part of my life, either as hobby or as work, for some years now. I've always been passionated about images (moving and still) and my work always revolves around them (graphic design, video editing and so on). These days, I'm getting more and more interested in analog photography, all manual lens and this kind of old stuff. "Accidentally", I ended up finding some very interesting threads in this forum, and here I am It's seems a really nice place to learn.
I hope I can help and be helped by my new colleagues here. Nice to be part of this forum,
Diego
Welcome to CiC...Just jump in on our conversation and join us in our journey towards learning and giving help to others. This is a sort of an informal group. We call each other by what we wanted to be called through what we put in the "Real Name" part of the profile. So actually you do not have to put the RB at the end of your name. Look through the postings here and share with us your thoughts on how an image look to you and if you do any postings here and asked for help, there are a lot here that are willing to do so. Enjoy yourself what you are here...we do not bite...much.
Hello everyone.....glad I found this site as I am looking to get back into photography after many years of absence. As a point of interest, at one time I owned 11 Nikon film cameras including one that was a rangefinder which was custom covered in snake skin at Nikon back in the 50's.
I am about to purchase my first DSLR.
