Ratnesh - Good to hear from you and thank you for deciding to join this forum. I hope the advice of your tutor will prove correct and that you do find CiC a useful and enjoyable online learning resource.
Amongst the best ways to learn is 1) ask questions and, 2) post up image and invite comments from colleagues. Both activities are encouraged on here.
Something you might find useful. Sometimes people are not sure about asking for comments and criticism on their images. This thread gives you some helpful advice and guidance about how to get the best feedback from fellow members.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.

Great to have you here, Jim. Unsurprisingly, thnere are a number of Canadians active on the forum. Good to another one. If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy being part of this forum.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi, everyone.
I alighted on this site when googling for info on Bayer and AA filters. I've spent a little while this sunny afternoon, when I should be out taking pics :D) browsing the content. I found it the best site of its type combining technical knowledge with an easy reading and presentation style.
I've accumulated about 55 years of photography bad habits under my belt, shooting anything from 16mm sub-min to 5x4 and doing my own B/W D&P for the first 40+ years, before I succumbed to the ease of use of digital around 2003. My laptop is now my daylight darkroom. Currently, I use mainly Sony gear, A7, Nex7, Nex 5N and an older R1. My pocket camera is a Panasonic Lumix LX7, and for when I want a long reach but not the weight I have a Panasonic FZ200.

Terry, it's a pleasure to welcome you here. And with all that knowledge and experience under your belt, I hope you'll share it on here so that others can learn from you ... as well as, hopefully, you picking up some little gems from fellow members.
Anyway, it was far too sunny to get decent pictures out there today! Far better inside reading CiC.

I have come late to learning photography and improving my computer skills.I live in a suburb of New York City. Harry, it's a pleasure to welcome you into this forum. I do hope that you find it both enjoyable and useful.
I appreciate your point about having the confidence to post your first picture for comment. First time I posted an image (not on here), I did not get one reply. Very disheartening. But I persevered. So I hope you will soon feel able to jump in. In the meantime to please ask any questions you might have.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Thanks to all for a great resource.
I'm very new to all this photography business, and will soon upload some shots for advice.
Like all beginners, I am struggling with it all.
My particular fascination is very small birds with very fast movements in the very low light of morning. I find the balance between aperture, shutter speed, ISO and the speed that is needed to manipulate all of these a great challenge.
I have gained a lot by reading others experiences, and look forward to any help that might come my way.
The very best to you all.
Tim

Hi Tim, and welcome.
For a beginner you've picked a tough row to hoe with small birds in low light. Most start with their cat :)
However, there are some excellent bird photographers here who will be happy to offer advice.
I look forward to seeing some pictures from you, but in the meantime if you have any questions just pitch in and ask.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi. By way of introduction my name is Brian and I am very new to this as I have never participated in or on a forum before so please forgive me if I make a few mistakes along the way. I live in County Antrim Northern Ireland and would like to get in touch with anyone who also lives in Northern Ireland with similar photographic interest's
I am a very amateur photographer but as I am retired I have all the time in the world to learn. My equipment consists of a Sony Alpha A77v camera, a Sigma 18-200 telephoto lens that I use as my go to lens, a Tameron 90mm Macro lense and am about to be the proud owner of a Sigma 150-500mm telephoto so that I can pursue my new found passion of wildlife photography.
I am really looking forward to chatting on this forum and learning from like minded people and enjoying my new hobby.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi Brian,
I understand you trepidation. I have just spent about three hours trying to work out how to make my first proper post, the likelihood of making an embarrassing mistake weighing heavily on me the whole time.
I've got an A65 and would be very interested to hear how the Sigma 150-500 works. I've got the Sony 70-300 & 70-400, but haven't been game enough to go to a duifferent brand of lens.
Good luck with your posts.
Tim
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Pentax k50 vs d5200 vs sony a58
Size and weight is not an issue.
I want a dslr with fast shutter speed and quick autofocus. Image quality is the top priority. I will mostly shoot scenic landscapes and do a bit of street photography. I am also interested in doing wildlife photography.
Keeping all these in mind, which one should I put my finger on? Also, if you a have a better camera in mind( in the same range) please do mention.
Kindly forgive me if it has already been discussed. Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Brian - Making mistakes is how we learn. You are very, very welcome. I hope you enjoy being part of the CiC forum. The one thing I hope you find about this forum is that there are no members who play the 'I'm very experienced and you're not' card. If there are, we quickly zap them off into the ether. The best way to get answers to questions is to ask them.
If you ever need any help in getting images posted into your message, then please do read the helpful guide that walks you through how to do it. Click HERE to read the thread.

Hello and welcome to the forum. This thread is very much about introductions. Questions such as you have asked need to be put into, in this case, the 'Digital Cameras and Equipment' section of the forum for the simple reason that more people able to provide a response will see it there.
But it's still a pleasure to welcome you to this forum. I hope you find useful as well as fun.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello, I am David, living Tasmania, Australia. Age 74 and have been a keen photographer for most of that time. I developed and printed my first image at age 15. My 35 mm film gear was Pentax and MF was Mamiya RB67 and 6x7 Universal Range Finder. I reluctantly converted to digital in 2004 (Pentax istD) and now shoot with two Pentax K3 bodies with a range of C class and FF lens most of which are at the top end of the range.
I retired early and completed a two year Diploma of Art Craft and Design (Photography) in 2000. I did an additional year in 2005 to convert to digital photography. Caravan trips around Australia occupy about 75% of my time (it's a big country).
Landscape, wildlife, macro and people are my photographic interests but the latter is approaching the too hard basket. B&W is my passion and it has taken some time to emulate the beautiful B&W of Agfa 25ASA and Microphen.
I also belong to Pentax Forum and DPR (but I am more interested in photography than arguments about gear).
David

In that case, David, you are very, very welcome.
Thanks for choosing to join this forum. I hope you enjoy it. And I hope that all that knowledge and experience will be shared so that others might learn from you. I, too, am a B & W disciple!
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. In your case, you might want to put something like 'All of Australia'

Hi. My name is Murray. I'm an amateur shooter but take it seriously and am anxious to improve my skills. I shoot primarily with a Nikon D750, with a Nikon D7100 as backup. My focus is equine photography, the vast majority of this being Thoroughbred racing and breeding. As I live in Central Kentucky, USA, this gives me great exposure to my favorite subjects. I look forward to learning a great deal from this forum and hopefully I might on occasion be able to contribute as well.
